In 2018, BMW and Great Wall Motor established a 50:50 joint venture to establish Beam Auto, and next year the Zhangjiagang plant will be officially completed. Recently, the online car market learned that the beam automobile Zhangjiagang plant will be newly built on the basis of the existing project, from "annual output of 160,000 fuel passenger cars full export manufacturing and pure electric passenger car development" adjusted to "annual output of 160,000 pure electric passenger cars full export manufacturing and development", the transformation of the production of pure electric passenger cars, next year's first model will be officially off the production line.
Beam Auto Zhangjiagang Plant annual output of 160,000 pure electric passenger cars full export manufacturing and development project covers an area of about 930 acres, the new construction area of about 274657 square meters, the purchase of production and testing equipment about 558 units (sets), the project construction period of 2020-2022, a total investment of 5.1 billion yuan. The plant will build new stamping workshops, welding workshops, painting workshops, final assembly workshops, PACK workshops, production lines and test tracks for the production and manufacture of all-export pure electric passenger cars.
According to the previous plan, Beam Vehicle will realize the localization and electrification of MINI, as well as the production of Future Electrified Products of Great Wall Motors. After the adjustment, Beam Auto will put into production at the Zhangjiagang plant BMW MINI brand pure electric models and Great Wall brand pure electric vehicle models, of which mini electric vehicles are partly supplied to the Chinese market, and the other part is exported to overseas markets, and the latter is expected to be the Euler brand, mainly exported to overseas markets.
