Recently, under the guidance of the Art Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the "Art for the People - Liu Wenxi Art Documentary Exhibition" co-sponsored by the National Museum of China and the Department of Culture and Tourism of Shandong Province opened at the Qingdao Municipal Art Museum.
Hu Heping, secretary of the party group and minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, attended the "2021 National Art Creation Work Conference" in Qingdao, Lu Yingchuan, member of the party group and vice minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, visited the exhibition, from the Literature and Art Bureau of the Central Propaganda Department, the relevant departments and bureaus of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the art units directly under the Ministry, the art academies and troupes directly under the relevant ministries and commissions of the central and state organs, the Propaganda Bureau of the Political Work Department of the Central Military Commission, the Department of Culture and Tourism of various provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), and the Culture, Sports, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. Responsible comrades of the cultural and tourism administrative departments of the cities with separate plans and other representatives visited the meeting together.
Liu Wenxi was born in 1933 in Shengxian County, Zhejiang Province. At the beginning of the 1950s, Liu Wenxi, who was still studying at the Shanghai Yucai School, studied Chairman Mao's "Speech at the Yan'an Forum on Literature and Art" under the guidance of his teacher and famous printmaker Mr. Wang Qi. Since then, the "spirit of speech" has become the ideological origin of Liu Wenxi's lifelong artistic practice, and he has unswervingly practiced it through the artistic concept of "familiar with people, strict modeling, pen and ink, and innovation". In more than 60 years of artistic creation, he has traveled all over the ditches and valleys of northern Shaanxi, comprehended the spirit of great men in visiting revolutionary sites and studying the works of leaders, and observed the image characteristics, spiritual temperament and mark of the times of working people in the common life with peasant friends. Liu Wenxi experiences the people's lives with sincere emotions, and his works are full of rich northwest style and fresh breath, vividly confirming the "foundation of life" he advocates. As one of the most outstanding representatives of the art industry in practicing the party's literary and artistic line, "People's Artist" Liu Wenxi has adhered to the people-centered creative orientation throughout his life, regarded the people as the source and strength of artistic pursuit throughout his life, rooted in the yellow land of northwest China all his life, and penetrated into the people's lives.
As the successor of the National Museum of China's "Art for the People - Liu Wenxi Art Exhibition", this exhibition still highlights the "people's nature" characteristics in Liu Wenxi's creation, and selects 100 important works of his various periods, which are divided into three units: "Leader Full of True Feelings", "Deep Life seeking creation" and "Pen and Ink Danqing for the People" for systematic display. At the same time, 132 pieces of relevant photos, publications, self-described creative feelings and other documents of Liu Wenxi were exhibited, reviewing Liu Wenxi's mission and original intention as a "people's artist" in a comprehensive, rich, systematic and orderly context. Among the works exhibited in this exhibition, more than 70 are newly added exhibits, including classic works showing the temperament of revolutionary leaders such as "Mao Zedong's Youth Era", "Millions of Heroes in His Chest", "Deeply Remembering the Brilliant Life of Comrade Ren Bishi", as well as works such as "Yellow River Hanzi" and "Lao Lai Le", which reflect the image characteristics of the people of northern Shaanxi, as well as "Guanzhong Old Peasants" and "Tiger Baby" created by "Going Deep into the People, Going Deep into Life", and "Yuan Ming" (series of sketches).
As General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out in his speech at the opening ceremony of the Eleventh National Congress of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Tenth National Congress of the China Writers Association, the vast number of literary and art workers should adhere to the people-centered creative orientation, put the people in the highest position in their hearts, take the people's satisfaction or dissatisfaction as the highest standard for testing art, create more excellent works that meet the people's cultural needs and enhance the people's spiritual strength, and let the hundred gardens of literature and art bloom for the people forever. Liu Wenxi's artistic career and creative achievements vividly reflect this.
It is hoped that through this exhibition, the vast number of literary and art workers and ordinary audiences can get aesthetic enjoyment from it, draw spiritual strength, strengthen cultural self-confidence, and work together to build a socialist cultural power and realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
It is reported that the exhibition is free of charge at the Qingdao Municipal Art Museum until December 26, 2021.
