Yuan Shikai coerced and tempted Sun Yat-sen to give up the position of president, and Sun Yat-sen finally compromised with Yuan Shikai and let Yuan Shikai assume the position of president of the National Congress, but Yuan Shikai did not have the heart to be the president of the National Congress, he only wanted to rule the people like an emperor.
In 1915, Yuan Shikai was proclaimed emperor, this move annoyed the masses, Cai Yi and others launched a patriotic war, uprising against Yuan Shikai, but also received a wide response from all over the place, Yuan Shikai saw that the situation was unfavorable and had to give up, temporarily gave up the idea of restoring the imperial system.
Shortly after this farce, Yuan Shikai died of illness, he was buried on the banks of the Huaishui River, his tomb was huge, it took two years to build, Yuan Shikai's son Yuan Keding, also wanted to fulfill his father's dream, named Yuan Shikai's tomb "Yuan Ling".
Giving an imperial tomb-like name, Yuan Keding's careful thinking is well known, and there is no doubt that such a title is opposed, because only the emperor's tomb can be called a mausoleum.
Xu Shichang changed the mausoleum to Lin, and the two characters in the "Commentary on the Interpretation of Texts" can be universal, which not only avoids the anger of the people, but also satisfies Yuan Keding's mind to a certain extent, so yuan shikai's tomb is called Yuan Lin.
