On December 1, 1956, Lieutenant General Wang Jinshan, then deputy commander of the Beijing Military Region, took a rare opportunity to go to the cinema to watch a movie, but when the movie was halfway through, General Wang Jinshan was already in tears and had to leave the theater early.

Wang Jinshan deliberately went to the cinema to see this movie called "Shangganling", the world-famous Battle of Shangganling was commanded by General Wang Jinshan, who was the deputy commander of the Third Corps of the Chinese Volunteer Army at that time, and the Battle of Shangganling, which lasted for 43 days, made the US military frightened, and the intensity of the war was rare in the world, especially the density of artillery fire had exceeded the highest level in World War II, and it was precisely because of this battle that the Americans and the whole world saw his "madness".
In the autumn of 1952, cold weather fell on the Korean Peninsula very early, and the newly appointed commander of the United Nations Army, Clarke, the commander of the Eighth Army, Van Vliet, and others formulated a battle plan after two months of investigation, in an attempt to capture Shangganling and then capture the Five Holy Mountains, hoping to turn the situation around.
However, what Clark and others did not know was that their two months of "jumping up and down" had already attracted the attention of the volunteer army, and Wang Jinshan judged that the enemy was likely to take military action, ordered his troops to defend closely, and sure enough, the enemy launched an attack on the Shangganling area on October 14.
The volunteer army that had been prepared for the long time stubbornly resisted, repeatedly competed with the enemy for positions, fought fiercely for seven days and nights, and the American army suffered heavy casualties, but the newly appointed General Clark did not want his first battle plan to be in vain, and constantly increased the number of troops in the Shangganling area in an attempt to bite down this "hard bone", but what he did not expect was that the opponent he encountered this time was a "crazy" general.
The continuous increase in the number of US troops also stimulated Wang Jinshan, who instructed the 15th Army to resist the enemy's attack while sending the 12th Army to the battlefield, and the two sides fought around this position of less than four square kilometers for 43 days, repelling more than 700 enemy attacks, of which the enemy's troops above the battalion level attacked a total of 25 times, and the rest attacked more than 600 times.
Clark's original idea was to take Shangganling with two battalions of troops, and as a result, he encountered the "Wang Madman", and fought a small-scale battle into the bloodiest battle, with more than 100,000 troops invested by both sides, and the volunteer army alone suffered more than 11,000 casualties, and Wang Jinshan became famous for this battle, and his "madness" directly made the Yankees and the whole world see the bravery and fearlessness of the volunteer army.
Among the 15th Army that participated in the battle, there were 12,347 combat heroes of the third class and above, such as Qiu Shaoyun, Huang Jiguang, and others who were well known as heroes who emerged in this battle, and the rest of the battle heroes who died with the enemy were as many as dozens, and every inch of Shangganling's position was sprinkled with the blood of the battle heroes.
The spirit of death-defying spirit displayed by the volunteers in the Battle of Shangganling was well-known in the 50s, and many outstanding works of the population were born, "Shangganling" was a film created in this context, on December 1, 1956, the film was officially released, when Wang Jinshan was already the deputy commander of the Beijing Military Region, he learned of this news, or took the time to go to the theater to see the movie.
Sitting in the movie theater, looking at the pictures in the movie, the tragic scene of the Battle of Shangganling seemed to float in front of his eyes, Wang Jinshan couldn't help but burst into tears, he only watched half of the show and got up and left the theater, until he calmed down after leaving the movie theater.
Why did the general burst into tears? Several people on the Upper Ganling Mountains died (Big Joe)
