Later, Du Tiehuan also experienced the Liberation War, personally experienced the decline and incompetence of the Nationalist government, and the actions of our Communist Party of China also greatly stimulated Du Tiehuan's belief in joining the army in the future.

The following year, Du Tiehuan took over as deputy political commissar of the 67th Army, and in the following battles, the 67th Army performed very well and achieved great victories. By April 30, 1986, the 67th Army had annihilated 8,400 enemy troops and suffered more than 2,100 casualties.
Later, Du Tiehuan served as the political commissar of the Jinan Military Region and the political commissar of the Beijing Military Region, and was promoted to the rank of lieutenant general in 1993 and to the rank of general seven years later.
