According to the news of Qinghai Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture on the 18th, on the 17th, researchers found a new ancient rock painting community in the Tibetan Niang area in the middle reaches of the Tongtian River in Yushu Prefecture, and a total of 191 rock paintings were counted on the spot, which was the first time that ancient rock painting remains were found in the middle and upper reaches of the Tongtian River in Yushu City.

According to reports, the remains of this place are located in the southeast of the Namzana Mountains of Yingbangtan at the junction of Zhongda Township and Anchong Township in Yushu City. At present, researchers have collected, measured, located, registered and other work on this rock art group, and invited experts to carry out relevant research.

"Yak rock paintings are made by the whole body knocking technique, the humanoid petroglyph style is relatively unified, the humanoid petroglyph images are very characteristic, the tower graphics are later, the cliff stone carvings, observation marks, may be made of metal tools. Overall, this newly discovered petroglyph point is rich in content and numerous, and a variety of images appear in a petroglyph point, reflecting not only the continuity of Yushu petroglyph production, but also the antiquity of the history of petroglyphs in the eastern part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Gou Aiping, a professor at the Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts, said.

According to researcher Renqing Nyima, these newly discovered petroglyphs have combined petroglyphs and monolithic petroglyphs, which are well preserved and rich in content. It is mainly based on the whole body knocking yak motif, with a small number of deer and figure figures, and there are also late cliff statues. Early petroglyphs further penetrated the close cultural relationship between the upper and lower reaches of the Tongtian River in the ancient period, and clarified the migration trajectory of ancient humans. It has high research value for the historical changes and development of Yushu.

"These newly discovered petroglyphs are numerous, rich in content, have a long period, have different styles in the morning and evening, and feature patterns including a variety of animal styles, characteristic hunter images, and the moya stone carvings in the Tubo Dynasty period are superimposed on the early rock paintings, which should be the first discovery, which is of great significance to understanding the cultural tradition of Yushu stone carving." Professor Zhang Yasha, director of the Rock Art Center of the Central University for Nationalities, said.

It is reported that the Yushu Tongtianhe rock paintings are rich in content and have a wide range of themes. Up to now, researchers from many counties have found more than 3,000 ancient rock paintings in the Tongtian River Basin. (Source China News Network)
