Recently, the cultural relics department of Shizuishan City, Ningxia, found a new rock painting with rich content and vivid pictures in the dry ditch of Helan Mountain.
After preliminary investigation, it was found that the petroglyphs were mainly chiseled on the sandstone surface, and the stone surface was generally gray-brown. There are a total of 11 petroglyphs here, more than 30 recognizable single images, of which 3 are composed of more than 10 individual images, the theme shows the riding and hunting scenes and fauna, including riders, sheep, horses, camels and other patterns, all made by knocking method, well preserved, concentrated distribution, realistic image.
Researchers from the Ningxia Petroglyph Research Center said that the discovery of this petroglyph further supplemented the animal population data of the historical period in the Shizuishan area, provided strong evidence for the study of the early human social life and economic model in the northern part of Helan Mountain, and had important historical and cultural value and academic research value.
In order to effectively protect these petroglyphs, the cultural relics department of Shizuishan City has electronically located and registered the newly discovered petroglyphs as new cultural relics points, and recorded the relevant information of rock paintings in detail. In the next step, researchers from the Ningxia Petroglyph Research Center will be invited to carry out research work on the newly discovered petroglyphs, such as generationalization and conservation.
