March 2004. A surprising news, flying from the ancient East to the world -

On the mysterious Southern Silk Road, the He Junge Dao Monument of the Eastern Han Dynasty, which has the reputation of "the first monument of Chinese calligraphy", has finally reappeared after a thousand years of mysterious disappearance!

After receiving the news, on March 22, 2004, the Sichuan Provincial Archaeological Institute quickly invited more than 20 professors from the cultural relics department, Sichuan University and Sichuan Normal University in the province to conduct field investigations, and concluded that this Cliff Carving Stone was the original inscription of the He Junge Dao Stele (also known as the "Zun Linge Stele") that has been inscribed in books and records since the Song Dynasty.

The cliffs preserve the remains of ancient boardwalk holes.

Experts came to the Site of Xingjing to investigate, according to the discovery of the shape and distribution of the trail on the edge of the cliff, preliminarily restored the shape of the trail and the difference between the boardwalk and the pavilion road, confirmed that it was a major archaeological discovery in Sichuan, and discussed the academic value of the literature, calligraphy, ancient transportation and other academic values of the carved stones on the cliff. Soon, its special recommendation was announced as a key cultural relics protection unit in Sichuan Province. In 2006, the He Junge Dao Monument and the Yandao Ancient City Ruins were jointly declared to become the sixth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.

A few days ago, this reporter came to Fengjia Village, about 14 kilometers west of xingjing county, on the south bank of the Xingshan Cave. On a steep cliff (about 5 meters below the Xinghe River, 4 meters above the 108 National Highway line carved by the split rock), I witnessed this mysterious Han Dynasty treasure carved stone.

The stone carvings of the Eastern Han Dynasty moya remain on the xinghe river.

According to reports, the carved stone faces northwest, is about 250 cm high and about 150 cm wide, and is artificially hewn into a shale section. The rock above is vertically protruding forward by about 50 cm. Shaped like a roof, it effectively protects the carved stone from rain and sun, and the rock wall itself is dry, so the carved stone can be preserved intact.

"Shu Commandery Taishou Pingling He Jun, sent Lin qiong Shu Tuna to rule the Dao, built the Zun Pavilion, 55 Zhang, worked hard for 1198 days, Jianwu Zhongyuan in June of the second year of the first year, Dao Shi Renyun and Chen Chun lord." On the carved stone, there are a total of 52 characters, divided into 7 lines, which record the construction of this ancient boardwalk in the southern Silk Road during the Eastern Han Dynasty. The carved stone of Moya follows the complex and simple glyphs, arbitrarily knotted, each line has 7 characters, 9 characters, the handwriting is clear and complete, the maximum word diameter is 9 cm wide, and the height is 13 cm. The calligraphy style of this cliff carved stone is very typical of the early Han Dynasty, its knot body is wide, horizontal and vertical, the waves are not obvious, the simplicity is straightforward, the center is pen, the seal is used as a subordinate, the circle is square, and the complexity is simplified, reflecting the evolution process of the seal and the subordinate.

Ho Jun Ge Dao Monument.

According to experts, the second year of Jianwu Zhongyuan, the last year of the Guangwu Emperor of the Eastern Han Dynasty (57 AD), has been as long as 1964, which is also the earliest Eastern Han Lishu carved stone that we can see so far. On the west side of the carved stone, a number of ancient holes in the boardwalk with a size of 80 × 80 cm, a depth of about 50 cm, and a bottom diameter of 50 × 50 cm were also found, and the position and carved stone were basically on a horizontal line.

Xingjing was the seat of yan dao in the Qin and Han dynasties, and the ruins of the ancient city of Han Yan dao were 15 miles east of the "Carved Stone of He Junzun Pavilion". It was an important post station on the ancient Southern Silk Road and the starting point of the Yak Road. Yandaogu was an important town on the border of Shu and a trading hub. To the southwest is the Xiongguan Pass, a nine-folded saka with ice in summer, which is published in the Book of Han, where historical events such as "loyal servants and filial pieties returned" occurred.

"The discovery of the "Carved Stone of He Junzun Pavilion" is of great significance to the study of the ancient transportation history of southwest China."

Tea Horse Trail.

According to experts, in the past historical documents, the earliest record of the Zunjian Pavilion stele is the Song Dynasty Hongshi's "Li Shi", which records: "Shu County Taishou He Junge Dao Stele, Guangwu Zhongyuan second year carved this stele, Shu Zhong recently out, the Eastern Han Dynasty LiShusi as the head, the characters are strong, the ancient meaning is more than enough, such as the Crown Seal, and the clothes are sewn, so that people are not afraid to respect, although the failure of the pen into a tomb, it is not easy to peek at its fences." ”

The Song Dynasty Yan Yuan's commentary on the "Opening of the Stone Carving stone of the Chu Chuan Dao" records that (the Chu Chuan Dao Carved Stone Book) Fa Qi Jin, with more than one ancient meaning, is similar to the "Shu County Taishou He Junge Dao Stele", and the current "He Jun Stele" is not transmitted. The Han Li Ziyuan proves that the He Junge Dao Stele is in Yazhou. "Mo Bao" records: "This stele originated from Shaoxing Xin Weinian (1151 AD) in Xingjing County, in order to fit qiongqiong road also." ”

Expert testimony.

The reporter consulted the "Yazhou Fu Zhi" (volume 3, historical sites) and also found that there were relevant records of the He Junge Dao Stele: Han Shu County Tai Shou Zhi Dao Stele ... Thirty miles to the west, Jianwu Zhongyuan was established in the second year of the Yuan Dynasty; Zunjian Pavilion Monument... Thirty miles to the west, between the cliffs of Jingyu, Li Tao had a trek, and Jianwu Zhongyuan was established in the second year. According to the 17th edition of the Republic of China's "Xingjing County Chronicle", it is recorded that The Xingjing citation Wang Yuanzao "Rebuilding the Monument of He Junge Road": The original stone carving has been lost for a long time!

In fact, Feng Yanhai's "Golden Stone Suo" of the Qing Dynasty contains the "He Junge Dao Stele" according to the "Ancient Carved Cong Banknote", and the late Qing Dynasty scholar Kang Youwei 'Guangyi Zhou Shuangyi' praised the stele more than enough.

Inscription of Ho JunGe Road.

"The discovery of the inscription of the "Monument of He Junzun Pavilion" in 2004 corroborates the records of the Song Dynasty history books and corrects the misunderstanding of the later inscriptions."

"The carved stone of "He Junzun Pavilion" is similar to the famous Han Moya "Ode to the Stone Gate", "Ode to the West Narrow", "Ode to the Pavilion of Fu Que", "Chu Chu Dao" and other carved stone styles, all of which are based on the pen of the center and the seal, and the circle flies vigorously. In particular, it is closer to the previously recognized earliest Han Dynasty Moya "Chu Chu Dao". The content is that the prisoners of the County Taishou in the Bashu region built the boardwalk, and the time distance is only 6 years. The He Junzun Pavilion (57 AD) also preceded the Chu Chu Dao (63 AD). Therefore, this Eastern Han carved stone in Xingjing County has become the earliest preserved "first monument of calligraphy" in China!
