Talking about General Chen Geng, I think everyone must have heard a little about him, he has a cheerful personality, speaks funny and humorous, and is a famous "pistachio" in our army. However, what is less known is that General Chen Geng, who is often happy, also has moments of grief.

On March 8, 1939, Chen Geng, who was fighting on the front line, suddenly received a telegram. It turned out that the Japanese army launched a surprise attack, and his wife Wang Genying returned to the school to get documents, but unfortunately encountered the Japanese army on the way, and finally died heroically. After learning the bad news, General Chen Geng, who had always been optimistic and cheerful, could not hold back his grief and cried bitterly.

Wang Genying was Chen Geng's wife, and they met in Shanghai in 1923. At that time, Chen Geng was a teacher at the workers' night school, and the lectures were interesting and popular with everyone. Wang Genying is a progressive female worker, smart and clever, with elegant and generous manners. After a period of time together, Chen Geng appreciated her very much and boldly launched a pursuit. To this end, Chen Geng specially learned Shanghainese and often went to the shantytown to visit Wang Genying's parents. Finally, under the matchmaking of Zhou Gong and his wife, they came together and married.

In that turbulent era, Chen Geng and Wang Genying did not have much sweet married life, and for the sake of the revolutionary cause, they had to run around, often gathering less and leaving more. After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Chen Geng and Wang Genying both came to the front line of the Eighth Route Army, one was the brigade commander of the 386th Brigade, and the other was the political instructor of the 129th Division's accompanying camp school. Unfortunately, Wang Genying died heroically in 1939 at the age of 32.

It was not until three years later, when the deadline for Wang Genying to observe the festival had expired, that Chen Geng came out of the haze and met his second wife, Fu Ya. In front of Fu Ya, Chen Geng did not shy away from her feelings for Wang Genying, which made her feel the general's loyalty to her feelings. After Wang Genying's death, Chen Geng took good care of her family without reservation. Wang Genying had a younger sister named Wang Xuanmei, and because she was of the age of marriage, Chen Geng went around looking for someone for her.

General Chen Geng knew many people and had a good eye for people, and he quickly fell in love with Chen Xilian. Chen Xilian has a generous personality and is a down-to-earth person, and his wife has been dead for more than a year, so he is an excellent candidate. Chen Geng then became a matchmaker, and under his efforts, Wang Xuanmei and Chen Xilian soon married, and later gave birth to four children. Facts have proved that General Chen Geng really had a unique vision, and later Chen Xilian achieved great achievements, or was a founding general, and Wang Xuanmei's life has always been very stable.

In addition, Chen Geng also paid special respect to the parents of his ex-wife Wang Genying, visiting them when he had time, and sending living expenses every month. In 1961, General Chen Geng died, and before his death, he instructed his wife Fu Ya to take good care of Wang Genying's mother for him. Fu Ya obeyed her husband's last wishes and mailed living expenses to the martyr Wang Genying's mother every month until the old man's death.

Fast forward to 2011, 50 years after Chen Geng's death, his ashes were removed from the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery and buried back in his hometown in Hunan according to the general's will. At the same time, the tombs of his wives Wang Genying and Fu Ya were also moved, accompanied by General Chen Geng. The general's heroic soul can also be rested.
