After Shu Qi and Boyi left the Lone Bamboo Country, they discussed where to settle down, and they heard that Xi Bo Ji Chang had accumulated virtue and was willing to accept the elderly, so they decided to go to Xi Bo Ji Chang. When the two brothers traveled a long distance to Qi Zhou, Xi Bo Jichang had already died, and he was encountered by King Wu leading an army to fight against the unscrupulous Shang. They stepped forward and took the reins of the horse to dissuade King Wu and said, "Your father was buried after he died, but he made a big fuss, can it be said that he is filial piety?" As a courtier of Emperor Huan, and Xingbing Junjun, can he be said to be benevolent?" King Wu's soldiers were furious and raised their spears to kill them. Tai Gongwang hurriedly stopped them and said, "They are two benevolent and righteous men, and they cannot be killed!" With that, he helped them aside.
After King Wu destroyed Yin Shang, the princes and people of the world recognized King Wu's status as the Son of Heaven. Bo Yi and Shu Qi were ashamed of this. They believe that although they have not been able to stop this immoral behavior, they must stick to their beliefs. So they decided to live in seclusion in Shouyang Mountain (present-day Yongji, Shanxi) and prefer to be the remnants of the Yin merchants rather than the shunmin of the Zhou Dynasty. In order to completely break the line with the Zhou Dynasty, the two decided not to eat the grain of the Zhou Dynasty and instead rely on collecting Wei vegetables to fill their hunger. In the winter, there are no more vegetables, and they are hungry. At this time of starvation, they thought that Yao Shun's prosperous life was gone, that they did not want to be in league with the present world and were cornered, and they could not help but sing sadly: "The north wind is really cool, ascend the first sun, pick wei vegetables, and fill the hungry intestines." Evil is easy to evil, and it is fierce, and I don't know where its fault is. Tang Yao Yu Shun went to heaven, where did the brothers return? Whoops, whoops, who As a result, the two brothers starved to death on Shouyang Mountain.
Later Confucius praised them and said, "Don't give up the ideals you believe in, and you don't mix and defile yourself, Boyi Shuqi is such a person!"
