A nobleman with stars and the moon came out of the door of the mansion in the Courtyard of Qiluo, and he lingered for the girls in Shengge Lane, just because he wanted to live simply. He wrapped all the idle thoughts that remained in his Yunshui career in a patch of blue and white pink, and suffered a rare warmth in the lonely cold...
In an uncertain political climate, history suffers from a selective amnesia. Yuan Kewen, the "famous scholar of Beijing", has been forgotten and missed in this way—the impression he left on us is so vague that only a few people have a cursory notice: he is the grandson of the old king who hid his face and sank at the end of a certain era.
——Wang Mingwei

Yuan Kewen (1890-1931), also known as Hanyun, was a native of Xiangcheng, Henan. The second son of Yuan Shikai, former president of the Republic of China. Born in Seoul, Joseon, his biological mother was Kim, the sister of the Princess of Joseon. His third son was the famous American physicist Yuan Jialuo. He was gifted and intelligent since childhood, and was familiar with the Four Books and Five Classics, and was deeply loved by Yuan Shikai.
At the age of 15, he studied at the Tianjin Beiyang Guest School, and his father also invited famous teachers to teach him at home, Yuan Kewen benefited a lot, and showed deep achievements in filling in words, poetry, calligraphy, painting and other aspects. In addition to his love of poetry and songs, he also likes to collect calligraphy and paintings, antiques, etc., and loves Kunqu opera and Peking opera art, and is a famous ticket holder in the north and south. He was born into a family of officials and eunuchs, but he had no interest in politics, and lived a life of poetry, wine, song, and happiness every day.
Yuan Shikai and Yuan Keding father and son were keen on the imperial system, and Yuan Kewen looked at it coldly. He wrote a poem "Feelings": "At first, the slight sponge is strong and self-victorious, and the clouds and suns are not clear from the evening." In the south, the cold geese cover the lonely moon, and the west goes to the nine cities with proud winds. The gap colt stayed for a moment, and the stinging made the dream more desired. There is a lot of wind and rain in the high places, and it is not enough to go to the highest floor of the Qiong Building. It was the interpretation of all parties that made Yuan Kewen famous.
Yuan Keding regarded the mercurial and versatile Yuan Kewen as a potential competitor. So a scene in history reappeared: the people of the time regarded Yuan Kewen as Cao Zhi, and compared his father Yuan Shikai to Cao Cao, and Yuan Keding naturally framed his brother Cao Pi.
In 1912, Yuan Kewen avoided Shanghai. He took the initiative to visit Jin Rong, and the greeting gift he brought to Jin Rong was 10 gold commemorative coins minted by the British - Yuan Shikai asked British businessmen to make them to commemorate his becoming the president. Yuan Kewen joined the Qing Gang, and his senior was higher than That of Jin Rong and Du Yuesheng.
In The 1920s and 1930s in Beijing, Tianjin and Lu, who didn't know the name of the owner of the cold cloud?
He is proficient in calligraphy and painting, the twentieth year is already a generation of calligraphy masters, the person who asks for words has offered a sky-high price of eight thousand words, and the great marshal Zhang Zongchang, who cannot be a great marshal, does not hesitate to stand in the concierge room and hold wine all night; he loves to sing opera, loves Beijing opera Kunqu opera alone, and every time there is a notice of "Hanyun Master Cameo", the theater yard must be full; he loves to collect, often throws thousands of gold and calls for millions, the Tang Dynasty's unique "Luoshen Endowment" and the Song Dynasty's fine "Three Heroes of wind and dust" have been his playthings in the case; his poems are excellent, often "dozens of songs a night." He liked to play cards and wrote "Bird Notation"; he liked to collect stamps and wrote "Saying Mail"; collected ancient money, and had "Qian Jian"; and his disciple Yu Yifen called him "the essence of play is all-encompassing, and he has obtained the essence of his own, and his writings are abundant." The collection is extremely spiritual, the breadth of the collection, the exquisite examination of the examination, are all self-contained"; the house where he lives is known as the "Small Forbidden City", which has a lot of collection, and was once rich and enemy of the country; he is highly affectionate and natural, and there are countless beautiful red faces on the pillow, but this red and green Republic of China Liu Yong is strict and solemn, even if he eats flower wine in the Qinglou, he never loses his etiquette and never casually and lightly.
Yuan Kewen was indeed a strange person in the Republic of China period, and his experience was very legendary, and for me, there were three things that impressed me the most.
First, after Yuan Kewen's death, thousands of prostitutes in Beijing voluntarily volunteered to wear filial piety clothes to send him off. The second is that Yuan Kewen left a song that has been sung for eternity: "No mercy on the high places where there is much wind and rain, do not go to the top floor of the QiongLou". Third, Yuan Kewen gave birth to a particularly outstanding son, Yuan Jialuo, a Chinese-American physicist and daughter-in-law Wu Jianxiong, known as the "Queen of Physics", who was a student of Marie Curie.
Yuan Kewen's writing has its own unique features, that is, he can not use the table, hang the paper in the air, and be pulled by people at both ends, he wields everything, the pen is powerful, and the paper is not damaged, which is difficult for ordinary calligraphers to do. Writing small characters is even more wonderful, because he swallows smoke all day long, and he is lazy to get up, so he lies on his back on the bed, holding paper in one hand and pen in the other, writing out of thin air. After writing and then looking at it, the font is beautiful, and there is no disadvantage of skewing and deviating. Friends watched it and were amazed.
At that time, various tabloids in Shanghai asked him to write mastheads, and some novels also asked him to sign them. Once, a man named Tao Hancui asked him to write the cover with his "History of the Republic of China", and he waved it. Later, the novel was published and gave him a volume, and after he glanced at it, he was greatly remorseful, and it turned out that the book scolded his father Yuan Shikai, and he never dared to socialize easily anymore.
When his money bag was tightest, he never reached out or opened his mouth to the passers-by in the political arena. At that time, Zhang Zuolin, the "King of the Northeast", and Zhang Zongchang, the overseer of Shandong, both hired him as a senior senator or adviser. Of course, but with his qualifications and fame, he was not asked to do anything, but he refused one by one - the second master did not serve!
Ordinary people may not believe that where will Yuan Kewen be poor to this point and need to sell words to maintain his life?
Speaking of which, after Yuan Shikai's death, his brother Xu Shichang presided over the separation of the family, each son was divided into 120,000 yuan, in addition to cash, there were ten gold bars, a number of stocks, and real estate. Yuan Kewen inherited from childhood to the Shen family, so one person shared a double share of the inheritance, which can be a good tour. In fact, most of Yuan Kewen's family property was in the hands of his wife Liu Meizhen, who was afraid that he would squander his profligacy and not be willing to spend all the money in his hands, so for the sake of the livelihood of his descendants, he held the money and did not give him flowers. Yuan Kewen is just a name, so he has to do some "side business" to make him more generous.
In the first month of 1931, Yuan Kewen contracted scarlet fever. His short life was like a scarlet fever. On the scarlet stage curtain, Zhongxiao drew his sword for a dance, vowing to pound the Yellow Dragon and shout drunk. The curtain on the stage slowly closed. On March 22, before the scarlet fever had healed, the Wind Moon Alliance Lord went to meet the old friend, which can be described as "lying in the wind, resisting death and entanglement". After returning home, the old disease recurred and he died.
On the last journey to send Yuan Kewen, more than 4,000 monks and nuns spontaneously organized, and another spontaneous team was thousands of prostitutes, who tied white head ropes and wore Yuan Kewen's head badge on their chests, and uniformly dressed. In the procession of the funeral, because of the appearance of monks and prostitutes, xu Shichang, Yu Youren, Zhou Shuangjuan and other celebrities who came to the public sacrifice were robbed of the limelight.
Before he was born, he still directed such a play after his death, and yuan Hanyun, 42 years old, did not walk in vain.
