What was the most important thing after the emperor ascended the throne? The answer is to consolidate imperial power. The emperors who have done so throughout the ages have all been like this.
After Nurhaci's death, Emperor Taiji ascended to the throne. The reason why Huang Taiji was able to inherit the Khan's throne was not through the seizure of force or the competition of strength. Rather, it was the result of mutual consultation and compromise between the four Great Baylors (Daishan, Amin, Mang gultai, and Huang Taiji). This formed a situation in which Huang Taiji and the three baylors governed the country together (nominally all baylors governed together, but in fact, the authority was mainly controlled by the three baylors and the emperor taiji). At the beginning of the succession, according to the regulations, when the imperial meeting was held, the emperor Taiji could not sit on the throne of high and high, but sat side by side with the three baylors and accepted the worship of the ministers. In the era of imperial despotism, this situation was short-lived and unsustainable. Either Emperor Taiji overthrew the others, And Qian Gang was dictatorial and monopolized, or he was replaced by others.
Huang Taiji is a very capable Baylor, and his deeds have been described in detail in previous articles, and I will not repeat them here. After Emperor Taiji succeeded to the throne, it was impossible to wait for others to overthrow him. Therefore, he soon began to start the "consolidation of imperial power".

After Nurhaci's death, his concubine Abhay wanted to seek inheritance for her son. Abba hai had three sons, the eldest son Azig, the second son Dolgun, and the third son Dordor. However, due to the combined forces of the four Great Baylors, Abahai was defeated in the struggle and was given death. Her eldest son, Azig, was twenty-one years old and brave by nature, fierce and strong in battle. As soon as Nurhaci died, Azig's mother, Abhay, was forced to be buried, much to Azig's chagrin. At that time, he was the flag bearer of the white flag. After Emperor Taiji succeeded to the throne, in the second year of Tiancong, he suddenly ordered that the owner of the Azig White Banner be deposed and stripped of all his titles. The reason for his dethronement was that he had officiated at the wedding of his younger brother Dodo without permission. Clear-eyed people know at a glance that this is Huang Taiji cutting out dissidents. After Azig was deposed, Emperor Taiji ordered that Azig's younger brother Dorgon succeed him as the bearer of the White Banner. Dorgon was only fifteen years old at the time, still a teenager, and incapable of making waves. In this way, Huang Taiji eliminated the threat of the white flag to him.
Among the three baylors, Amin led the blue flag and was very dissatisfied with the succession of Emperor Taiji. When Nurhaci died, he had hoped that the Great Belle Daishan and the Emperor Taiji would compete, so that they would lose both and reap the benefits. How to expect Dai Shan to take care of the overall situation, take the initiative to let Xian, and support the Emperor Taiji to ascend to the throne. Amin could do nothing about it, and his plan failed. As a last resort, we can only accept reality and wait for the opportunity. After Huang Taiji succeeded to the throne, Amin relied on merit and power, and often despised Huang Taiji and challenged the authority of Huang Taiji. He became the greatest threat to the emperor Taiji Khan's throne.
In the first month of the fourth year of Tiancong (1630), the Later Jin army invaded Shanhaiguan and occupied Yongping Province, Luanzhou, Qian'an and other places, and Emperor Taiji ordered Amin to lead 5,000 men and horses into Yongping Province. In May of that year, the Ming general Sun Chengzong oversaw 200,000 troops and attacked Luanzhou. The Luanzhou defender Turge could not hold on to it, and abandoned the city and fled to Yongping Province. The Ming dynasty army attacked Yongping. When Amin saw that the Jin army could not support it, he ordered the Ming generals to be killed and abandoned the city to withdraw their troops. In this battle, the Ming army was several times that of Amin's army, and it was certainly not possible to fight hard. Abandoning the isolated city and withdrawing from Shanhaiguan cannot be wrong. However, Emperor Taiji held on and ordered Zhu Belle to discuss Amin's crime. Everyone saw that the Great Khan was very angry, so they catered to it one after another and fell into the well. In the end, Amin was sentenced to death. In addition to abandoning the city and fleeing, there are also "light monarchs, seeking positions" and so on, a total of sixteen articles. When Amin learned of this, he was terrified. Seeing that his goal had been achieved, Emperor Taiji "forgave" Amin from death, stripped him of his position as the lord of the Blue Banner, deprived Amin of his population, slaves, property, and livestock, and ordered him to be imprisoned. The lord of the blue flag was Zilharan, who was loyal to the Emperor Taiji. At this point, Huang Taiji successfully overthrew Amin, eliminated the threat from the blue flag, and the Khan position was more stable.
After Amin fell, it was Mang gultai's turn.
In August of the fifth year of Tiancong, when the Later Jin army attacked the city of Dalinghe, Mang Guertai told Emperor Taiji that the Zhenglan Banner he commanded was too heavy to bear and suffered too many casualties. Huang Taiji ignored it. Mang Gultai was furious and reached out to draw his sword, but was stopped by his subordinates. Emperor Taiji took this opportunity to determine that Mang Gultai's "imperial front exposed blade" was a serious crime, and ordered that the Great Baylor be removed, demoted to ordinary Baylor, and listed with other Baylors, and fined 10,000 taels of silver. Of the original three Baylors, only one Daishan was left.
In the sixth year of Tiancong, Emperor Taiji abolished the system of three great belles sitting with him in the upper court, and instead he himself sat alone "in the south". At this point, the Khan position of Huang Taiji was stable.
In December of the sixth year of Tiancong, Mang Guertai fell ill and died. However, Huang Taiji's heart was fierce, and he did not intend to let go of the Mang Gultai family.
After Mang Gurtai's death, his younger brother Derg inherited the banner lord of the Blue Banner. Three years later, derg died of illness. At this time, rumors came from nowhere that Mang Gultai, Dege Class, and his sister Mang Guji had sworn to the gods with the intention of murdering Emperor Taiji. After Huang Taiji heard about it, he took the opportunity to attack the Mang Gultai family. Emperor Taiji ordered that Gege Mangguji and Mang Guertai's son Ebilun be killed, and their sons, nephews, cronies, and associates were also killed. Mang Guertai's other sons were demoted to the rank of Shuren, their property confiscated, and mangkultai's Zhenglan Banner was incorporated into the Emperor Taiji's own command. At this point, Huang Taiji personally commanded the three banners of Zhenghuang, Huang and Zhenglan, and his status was in an absolute advantage. The three Baylors had pulled out two completely. Now only the Great Belledets are left.
Dai Shan is distinguished in meritorious service, seniority and ability. Emperor Taiji was able to succeed to the throne smoothly, thanks to The Virtue of The Lord. After Emperor Taiji succeeded to the throne, Dai Shan had great respect for him and tried to avoid conflicts with him. However, Huang Taiji was still uneasy about him.
In September of the ninth year of Tiancong, Dai Shan set up a banquet at home to entertain Mang Guji, Mang Guertai's sister, and gave her some gifts. When Emperor Taiji heard the news, he was very angry and went to the door to question Dai Shan what he was doing. Daishan was terrified. Emperor Taiji summoned a meeting of the ministers of Belle and agreed on the charge of daishan. Baylor and the ministers attending the meeting listed a series of crimes against Daishan. He also reprimanded Daishan on the spot, saying that he "despised the monarch too much."
This is obviously to clean up the generation of good, there is nothing to say. However, Huang Taiji's approach is unique. He announced to the chancellor that he would not leave the house from now on, and asked Baylor to choose another person as king. That's interesting. Where is there a minister who allows himself to elect a monarch?
In fact, Huang Taiji took this approach, which was also a last resort. Daishan was the Great Baylor, who was once made the heir by Nurhaci, and in the process of the founding of the Later Jin Dynasty, he made great contributions and held a high position among the Baylors and ministers. After Nurhaci's death, Daishan vigorously supported Emperor Taiji. If Emperor Taiji wants to use hard moves to attack Dai Shan, it will cause some people to oppose and lose people's hearts.
After the Emperor Taiji's order was issued, Baylor and the ministers trembled. They knelt at the door of the main hall one after another and asked the Emperor Taiji to take care of the government. At the same time, they also suggested that daishan Great Belle be removed and ten cattle be punished.
When Emperor Taiji saw that his purpose had been achieved, he smiled slightly, and then walked out of the palace door and said a bunch of high-sounding words. This great Khan, I continue to be, the punishment for the substitution of good, then exempt it.
Daishan was grateful to Dade for his "tolerance" of the Great Khan, who was a wise man who knew what the purpose of Emperor Taiji was. From then on, he lived in seclusion and no longer participated in political affairs.
Through these means, Huang Taiji successfully deprived the baylors, especially the three baylors, of their administrative power, and the later Jin power was returned to the emperor taiji alone. On April 11, 1636, the tenth year of Tiancong (1636), the Great Ceremony was held, and the name of the country was changed to Qing. Since then, the Qing Dynasty has officially fought against Daming and begun a snake-swallowing elephant-style unification war.
