Beijing Children's Palace and Beijing Changping District Education Committee. Chen Bei, deputy secretary general of the Beijing Municipal Government, attended and announced the opening. Leaders of the Ministry of Education, the State General Administration of Sport, the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Education, the Beijing Municipal Sports Bureau, the Beijing Olympic City Development Promotion Center and other relevant units and the education commissions of various districts attended the opening ceremony.

The Beijing Winter Games for Primary and Secondary School Students has been successfully held for six sessions, and is a municipal winter sports comprehensive event with the largest participation scale, the largest number of project settings, the longest competition schedule and the widest distribution of venues among primary and secondary school students in Beijing. More than 1,700 teachers and students from 16 districts of the city, 239 schools in beijing economic development zone and Yanshan area participated in the Games. The student cultural and sports display activities at the opening ceremony closely focused on the theme of "Joining Hands to Welcome the Winter Olympics and Move Toward the Future Together". Through the four chapters of "Ice and Snow and Me", "Winter Olympics with Me", "Salute to Warriors" and "Together to the Future", winter sports such as figure skating, speed skating, ice hockey, curling, and skiing are integrated with lion dance, drumming, dance, singing and other forms of expression, which fully demonstrates the fruitful results of campus ice and snow sports and Olympic education in Beijing in recent years.

Compared with previous editions, this year's Winter Games presented three highlights:

First, the level of students' ice and snow sports has steadily improved. Compared with the previous session, the level of student sports in ice hockey, figure skating, skiing and other sports of this Games has been continuously improved, which fully reflects the remarkable results of Beijing's figure skating team skating, ice hockey and other projects as the entry point for the development of campus ice and snow sports in recent years. At the same time, it also shows the results of the six years of Beijing primary and secondary schools vigorously promoting and popularizing ice and snow sports, strengthening the teaching force of ice and snow sports, and strengthening the construction of the reserve talent echelon of campus ice and snow sports, and a large number of outstanding campus ice and snow sports talents have emerged.

The second is the full support of social resource units. The 9 individual events of the Games have all received strong support from professional organizations, and the Chinese Figure Skating Association, The Beijing Ice Hockey Association, the Beijing Snow Sports Association, and the Beijing Curling Association have sent a total of 162 referees, including 8 international referees and 42 national referees. It has taken a new step in building a campus ice and snow sports development model led by the government, strongly supported by the society and actively participated by the school.

The third is to create an atmosphere for the culture of welcoming the Winter Olympics. During the Games, the collection and exhibition of winter Olympic art works for primary and secondary school students in Beijing was carried out. By integrating the traditional art forms such as monkeys, kites and paper-cutting in old Beijing with the theme of the Winter Olympics, it not only allows primary and secondary school students to understand the excellent traditional Chinese culture, but also allows students to learn and master the knowledge of the Winter Olympics, feel the Olympic spirit, practice the "five educations at the same time", and promote the healthy growth and all-round development of students.

Since Beijing's successful bid to host the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, ice and snow sports have been vigorously carried out on the campus of Beijing, further enriching the form and content of school sports in Beijing, and have become a new highlight and business card for the development of school sports in Beijing. In recent years, the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and the Municipal Sports Bureau and other departments have worked closely together to coordinate the city's high-quality resources for ice and snow sports, promote popularization from the curriculum, raise interest from activities, create an atmosphere from the culture, and strengthen the guarantee of teachers, and promote campus ice and snow sports in a down-to-earth manner according to local conditions and in a down-to-earth manner, achieving remarkable results, forming characteristics and accumulating experience and practices. According to statistics, as of now, the number of primary and secondary school students in Beijing has reached 2.1 million.
