800 yuan to buy Ming Dynasty Xuande porcelain, auction sold 3.7 million!
During the War of Resistance Against Japan, the domestic antique market plummeted, and many precious cultural goods were sent to the market. At that time in Beiping, Qiu Yanzhi bought a large porcelain bowl, according to the seller's account, this porcelain bowl was collected by a salt transport envoy during the Qing Dynasty, after the fall of the Qing Dynasty, the salt transport made the family fall in the middle of the road, and the descendants of the non-conforming vessel could only sell the property to survive, and the cultural relics dealer only used 5 yuan to buy this porcelain bowl that was later identified as the Xuande period of the Ming Dynasty.
Later, the porcelain bowl was lost to the antique shop of Beiping LiuliChang, and Qiu Yanzhi saw it when he visited the Liuli Factory, liked it very much, and bought it for 800 oceans. About half a century later, the bowl appeared on the Hong Kong auction market and ended up selling for HK$3.7 million.
In Qiu Yanzhi's collecting life, the most famous leak picking up began in 1949. At that time, he saw two chicken bowl cups from the Chenghua period of the Ming Dynasty in the Hong Kong antique market, as the most famous porcelain treasure in history, the Chenghua chicken bowl cup has been a favorite collection of many literati and scholars since the Ming and Qing dynasties.
In the "Wan Li Ye Zhi Zhi", it is recorded: "Chenghua wine glasses, each pair of Boyin hundred gold." Zhao Ruzhen, a collector at the end of the Qing Dynasty, clearly recorded in the "Antique Guide" that there were only 3 Chenghua chicken bowl cups passed down. From these records, it can be seen that the chicken bowl cup is a rare treasure in the antique world.
At that time, the 2 chicken bowl cups that appeared in the Hong Kong antique market were considered by many collection experts to be fakes, but after Qiu Yan's opinion, he decided that they were genuine, and he bought it for 1,000 yuan despite the persuasion of his friends. For decades afterward, the pair of chicken bowl cups were in Qiu Yanzhi's collection until after his death, when the family auctioned them in Hong Kong for 5.82 million and 4.18 million, respectively.
