Liang Qichao wrote the preface for others, and the preface was even longer than the main text

Liang Qichao, the word Zhuoru, the word Renfu, the number Rengong, and the owner of the ice drinking room. There is a chapter in the middle school history textbook about Liang Qichao, because he was one of the initiators of the "Hundred Days Restoration". Liang Qichao was born in February 1873, when he was 25 years old when he was 1898. It is indeed admirable that a 25-year-old has led such an important reform movement. In fact, his contribution to future generations is more of his academic achievements. In addition to the title of political activist, he was also an important historian and writer in the late Qing Dynasty and the early years of the Republic of China. He was talented, he could write a thousand-word article at the age of nine, and he was talented at the age of twelve, and he was a man at the age of seventeen, so it was rare to be so intelligent.

Liang Qichao wrote the preface for others, and the preface was even longer than the main text

Liang Qichao can obviously rely on intelligence to eat, but he is very diligent.

As a scholar, his academic involvement is very extensive, not only in history, political science, literature, but also in the fields of philosophy, classics, ethics, and law. His writings can be described as "Hongfu", and his writings are compiled into the "Drinking Ice Room Anthology", a total of 148 volumes, more than 10 million words. Such a diligent person believes that no matter what era he was born in, he can have some achievements.

There are many anecdotes about Liang Qichao, and it is said that he loves to play mahjong, and even associates playing mahjong with saving the country. He once said with a big brain, "Mahjong can't not play, and if you want to save the country, you must play mahjong." Playing mahjong can observe people's character, but also exercise the spirit of perseverance, once sitting down regardless of victory or defeat, you must play four laps. At the same time, even if the first three laps are lost, there is still the hope of turning the book, our country and other countries compete, defeat can not be discouraged! This spirit can be exercised on the mahjong table. ”

Today I would like to tell you an interesting story about how he wrote a preface to someone else but achieved another masterpiece.

It is said that in 1918, Liang Qichao and another famous scholar, Jiang Baili, went to Europe for a tour and investigation. Starting from Paris, France, they have traveled to Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Germany and other major European countries and cities. In 1920, Liang Qichao wrote "European Travel Heart Video" against the background of this trip, and Jiang Baili wrote a book "History of the European Renaissance". Jiang Baili asked Liang Qichao to write a new preface, and Liang Qichao gladly agreed.

Liang Qichao carefully read the "History of the European Renaissance" and thought that it was very well written and was "a work of great value, and it has a creative spirit". In view of this, he thought carefully about the writing of the preface. After thinking matures, strive to write a book. When I wrote this, I couldn't help myself, and I wrote more than fifty thousand words in one go. And Jiang Baili's "History of the European Renaissance" is only 50,000 words. There are as many prefaces as there are orthographies.

Comparing the two, Liang Qichao felt that it was obviously inappropriate to use this article as a preface. Therefore, he once again wrote a relatively short article as a preface to The Book of Jiang. The 50,000-word "preface" was named "Introduction to Qing Dynasty Scholarship" and published separately, and Jiang Baili was asked to write a preface for this purpose.

Liang Qichao and Jiang Baili's three books, "Ou Youxin Video", "History of the European Renaissance", and "Introduction to Qing Dynasty Scholarship", all became famous works, and after their publication, they became a sensation. And this literary anecdote is often mentioned and passed down as a good story.
