So far, the anti-addiction reporting platform has accepted and verified 341 illegal games and platforms

Nandu News Reporter Sun Xiaopeng Cheng Xiaomei On December 14-16, the 2021 China Game Industry Annual Conference was held in Guangzhou. On the 15th, Nandu reporters learned at the sub-forum on the protection of minors and the press conference on the implementation of the new anti-addiction regulations that since the State Press and Publication Administration's reporting platform to prevent minors from addicting to online games has been launched on September 30, it has accepted and verified 341 anti-addiction illegal games and platforms, involving 241 game companies and 63 channels for game downloads.

At the meeting, Ge Subiao, editor-in-chief of China Search of Xinhua News Agency, mentioned that on September 30 this year, the reporting platform to prevent minors from indulging in online games, sponsored by the State Press and Publication Administration and undertaken by China Search, was officially launched. As a channel for accepting public complaints, the main function of the platform is to collect the implementation of anti-addiction measures for game enterprises provided by the reporting body, and further strictly manage and effectively prevent minors from indulging in online games.

According to reports, the work of preventing addiction of minors has achieved tangible results, but the situation is still grim. Since the operation of the platform, the acceptance and verification found that 341 anti-addiction illegal games and platforms, involving 241 game companies and 63 channels involving game downloads, real-name authentication violations, recharge payment violations, and time period violations often occur. In accordance with the deployment of the competent state departments, various localities have concentrated on handling a number of illegal enterprises, and exposed many cases of violations of the wind.

Ge Subiao believes that the work of preventing addiction of minors is a basic project and a long-term work, which requires the joint efforts of the government, the industry, schools, families and all sectors of society.

In this regard, Zheng Lei, head of Tencent's juvenile protection system and general manager of Tencent's user platform department, said that in order to respond to the new anti-addiction policy and ensure the effect of anti-addiction of minors, Tencent has built three lines of defense to build a "firewall" for juvenile protection in an all-round way, namely strictly managing the length and recharge of minors' accounts, starting financial-level face recognition verification, and upgrading parental control tools.

After the promulgation of the new policy, Tencent Games' data on the length and flow of minors' games in September showed a significant downward trend. Among them, the proportion of the domestic juvenile game market fell to 0.7%, compared with 6.4% in the same period last year; the proportion of domestic juvenile game turnover fell to 1.1%, and the data in the same period last year was 4.8%.
