During the double 11 period, I made an appointment for Intel's 12700K, all said that the World War I fengshen series, did not expect to be listed for a few days, the price fell a lot, plus the scatter increased 3 years of official warranty service, really let me have a very desire to complain. This CPU has 12 cores and 20 threads, single core Turbo up to 5.0Ghz, level 3 cache 25M, support PCIe5.0, memory native support DDR5-4800Mhz, the overall performance is still good. To say the disadvantages, it must be paired with the new 600 series LGA1700 interface motherboard, and up to 190W of power consumption, the heat sink requirements are not small.
In order to perfectly suppress this proud processor, I specially selected a powerful and high-tech heat sink, MSI Frost K360 water-cooled heatsink, which has 3 ARGB temperature-controlled fans, Asetek's 7th generation cold head, and my most salivable 2.4-inch customizable LCD screen. Yes, I admit that I just starve its face.
This screen can not only display hardware information, but also display animations, custom images, system clocks, etc., especially with the angular cold head shape, which is really cool to decorate the chassis.
Unbox
The MSI Frost K360 water-cooled radiator is part of MSI's MPG CORELIQUID K series and is packaged in the consistent dark design style of MSI water cooling. The front of the package can be physically displayed, the MYSTIC LIGHT shenguang system and the logo of the seventh generation Ofetek cold head, as the high-end water-cooled model of MSI, the Dragon Shield LOGO can also be seen on the packaging.
The interior of the package uses a rigid foam frame, all the water-cooled accessories are independently stored and arranged quite neatly, and there is additional supporting packaging protection in addition to the important parts, which is quite comprehensive in terms of protection.
In terms of accessories, it mainly contains the main body of the Frost K360 integrated water-cooled radiator, 3 ARGB TORX4.0 fans, the processor adaptation bracket, the data cable and the instruction manual warranty card.
Frost K360 uses the seventh generation Ofetek cold head, in addition to the customizable 2.4-inch screen, the cold head is also equipped with a 6cm fan, which can achieve auxiliary cooling function for the CPU power supply module, and the service life is up to 5W hours.
The appearance of the cold head has been changed to the familiar round design and changed to angular. The polygonal structure with a stronger sense of three-dimensionality is very scientific and technological. The shell of the cold head adopts a magnetic suction design, which can be easily disassembled and assembled, and the internal structure of the cold head is clear, and the smaller cold head volume will be easier to install in the installation.
The base of the cold head is made of all copper, and the contact area is large, which can suppress the latest LGA1700 and AMD TR4 processors.
The cold head power supply design is very special, it directly uses SATA power supply, and can reverse the power supply of 3 cold exhaust fans.
This water cooling also has a special design, that is, it is not connected to the motherboard through the 5V interface of the Shenguang system, it is specially configured for the radiator with a more USB2.0 data cable, it can be expected that after the water cooling is installed in place, we can make more comprehensive functional settings in the system.
The cold row is made of all aluminum, and has been blackened, the specific size of 394 * 120 * 27mm on both sides of the frame compression is relatively compact, with a small and medium-sized chassis can also be easily adapted.
The side of the cold row can see the logo of the Dragon Shield and MPG series, and the workmanship of the large factory is very exquisite.
In terms of fans, the Frost K360 comes standard with 3 MSI's own 12cm TORX4.0 fans, which support PWM speed regulation, speed 0-2500RPM, air volume 77.4CFM, arGB shenguang synchronization.
The back of the fan can be a specific model TORC FAN4.0, the frame uses a stiffener structure, and both sides are equipped with original shock-absorbing foot pads.
The front of the TORX FAN4.0 can see the logo of the magic dragon and is affixed with an electrostatic protective film, and the fan blade design is also very unique, the two fan blades will be connected by an outer ring structure, and at the same time, it can bring stronger wind pressure when working.
The fan provides 2 data cables, a 5V 3PIN God Ray and a 4PIN PWM power cord.
Stochastic also comes standard with a 1-to-3 5V 3PIN body expansion cable.
Installation experience
If the Frost K360 is compatible with the LGA1700 platform, it needs to upgrade a set of bracket kits, and the original Intel bracket is not compatible with the 1700. However, MSI is currently giving away the K360 and K240 exclusive LGA1700 fasteners for free, so remember to ask customer service directly.
Combine the fan and the cold row first, and pay attention to the installation direction of the fan data cable.
The top of my Corsair 7000X chassis can actually support the installation of thick drainage cold with hamburgers, but I haven't seen a separate MSI TOR TOR 4.0 fan for sale on JD.com for the time being, so let's leave a little expectation for the future.
LGA1700 platform supporting bracket, installation is still relatively refreshing, 4 bolts, 4 nuts, a few minutes can be done.
What gives me a headache is that the number of data cables coming out of the cold head is a bit amazing, and the length of the most important USB 2.0 signal synchronization line here is 75cm, so I consider taking the back line.
Although it is a full-tower chassis, the USB cable is still perfectly plugged into the interface on the bottom of the motherboard.
In addition, because the cold head uses a USB signal cable, so the 3 fan RGB signals on the cold row are in reverse and the 5V 3PIN data cable of the cold head is connected in series, if you are confused, remember to read the instructions, don't think I will toss it for half a day before changing it back. The figure above shows the trace status after installation.
Finally remember to install the shell of the frost K360 cold head, and it is finished!
Usage experience
The water-cooled 2.4-inch cold head can display a moving image, and by default, the phantom dragon shield can be displayed at boot.
Depending on the startup state, the cold head will have different dynamic performance.
Through the official software, under the suppression of Frost K360, 12700K is even lower than 20 ° in standby, which should have light with the size of the CPU nuclear architecture.
If you switch the display mode of the cold head to the CPU temperature in MSI CENTER, you can intuitively see the current operating temperature of the CPU.
The coldhead display data is consistent with the temperature detected by the software and is kept updated in real time.
Turn on the FPU grill for about 3 minutes, the CPU temperature is still suppressed below 70 °, which is quite satisfactory to me.
Through the monitor on the cold head, we can intuitively see that the temperature of the CPU grill rises to 69 degrees Celsius.
In terms of software, at present, MSI seems to have completed the integrated management of the driver software, all settings can be completed uniformly through MSI CENTER, plus the interactive design of graphics and text, which is also very convenient to use.
The evolution of app is also quite mature, and now you can complete operations such as dimming through your mobile phone.
In addition to the powerful heat dissipation performance and hardware data monitoring head, the FROST K360 LED display also has a fairly rich gameplay, such as it can also be transformed into your desktop clock.
Or replace it with your favorite photo.
After using it for some time, I am very satisfied with the performance of this MSI Frost K360 all-in-one water-cooled radiator in terms of design and heat dissipation performance. Well, this sharing is here, I am fathead fish Moomin, we will see you next time.
