According to the "Indian Express" reported on the 14th, because of assisting a new crown pneumonia patient to leave the country and making a fake nucleic acid report, 4 people were arrested by the Bangalore police on the 13th. The departing COVID-19 patient was later confirmed to be infected with the Omikeron variant.

On 2 December, Karnataka announced that India's first two COVID-19 patients infected with the Omiljung variant, including one from South Africa, was a 66-year-old foreign male traveller working for a pharmaceutical company who tested positive for nucleic acid upon arrival on November 20. The man was supposed to be quarantined at the hotel for 14 days, but seven days after arriving in India, he took a negative nucleic acid test report and on November 27 via Dubai transit to South Africa, where he was confirmed to be infected with the Omiljung variant on December 2.
The local police investigation revealed that 4 Indians assisted him in obtaining a false negative nucleic acid test report from a private testing agency during the man's departure from India.
