Qiu Shaoyun, a native of Tongliang District, Chongqing, was captured by the Sichuan army at the age of 13 and stayed in the old army for ten years. After the liberation of Chengdu in December 1949, 23-year-old Qiu Shaoyun joined the People's Liberation Army after being captured and became a liberation fighter. He then took part in the bandit campaign in Neijiang and became a glorious volunteer soldier in March 1951.
In the old army, no one knew why they were soldiers or why they fought. Many people were arrested like Qiu Shaoyun, and many people were eating mixed rice. In the volunteer army, there were many soldiers like Qiu Shaoyun. Bao Qingfang, a squad leader of the 7th Company of the 3rd Battalion of the 450th Regiment of the 50th Army, was captured by Chiang Kai-shek in 1945 and incorporated into the Provisional 58th Division of the 52nd Army as a soldier. In 1948, he became a liberation fighter and was later incorporated into the 450th Regiment of the 50th Army as a squad leader. On February 22, 1951, his company was ordered to hold its position on the south bank of Jianghan. In three days, they repelled dozens of attacks by a regiment of American troops, and by the 26th they had run out of ammunition. When the enemy charged up again, he raised the last grenade and rushed into the enemy group to die with the enemy.
Such cases abounded in the Volunteer Army, where the entire 50th Army was formerly an insurrectionary force. Freeman was injured in the leg during the battle in Pingli, and after the battle he was lying in the hospital, Chicago Daily reporter Gis Beach came to him and asked him a few questions:

The enemy's evaluation is the most objective, and in just a few years, the Chinese's combat effectiveness has soared, freeman has personally experienced. But one thing he was mistaken about was that people were still the same people as before, just re-injected into the soul. Super strong will, super belief, super organizational ability so that the volunteer army burst out of super combat effectiveness, partly to make up for the lack of weapons. If there are super weapons, maybe Qiu Shaoyun, Huang Jiguang, and Bao Qingfang will not have to sacrifice, and Freeman will not have a later story.
