As soon as Meng Haoran heard this, Tianzi came and quickly hid under Wang Wei's bed. The reason why he did this is that he has no meritorious name and is ashamed to see the holy ones today.
Wang Wei thought for a while, this did not let Tang Xuanzong know, afraid that he would lose his head for the crime of deceiving the king. Therefore, he told Tang Xuanzong and asked Meng Haoran to meet the two. At that time, Meng Haoran was already a well-known poet in the literary world, and Tang Xuanzong had heard about it a lot.
Tang Xuanzong asked Meng Haoran, you write a good poem, and read the best poem you have written to me. He also said to Meng Haoran, as long as you read well, no matter how big an official is, I will do it for you. Meng Haoran was also happy to blossom in his heart at that time, and under the arrogance of the form, he recited his most proud "Return to nanshan in the twilight of the years".
After Tang Xuanzong heard this, his face immediately darkened, "You don't ask for an official, but you come to complain that I don't give you an official to do, isn't this a slander?" It turned out that there was such a sentence in his poem: "It is not clear that the Lord has abandoned, and many people are sick and neglected." Meng Haoran's heart was trembling, this is the end! Fortunately, Tang Xuanzong looked at Wang Wei's face and did not bother with him much. Just said, you go back to Xiangyang.
When he was in his sixties, Meng Haoran was still participating in the imperial examination. This year, he wrote a poem saying that he had been studying for more than thirty years and would definitely be admitted. In addition, there are Wang Wei and Zhang Jiuling's Baoju. No problem. However, contrary to his wishes, Meng Haoran was still famous as Sun Shan. After this failure, Meng Haoran could only live in seclusion in the countryside.
