Why are archaeologists so interested in this little man holding a duck

In May 1987, an archaeological team came to Jianhua Community outside the West Gate of Changzhi City, Shanxi Province, to conduct a conservation survey of the construction site. Curiously, they came to the cemetery this time. At that time, there was not much crowd around, because there were not too many relics in the tomb, only something like a black hole in the tomb.

Archaeologists dug deeper into the tomb and found it to be a domed brick tomb, but sitting in the direction of east and west. According to the remaining items found in the tomb, it is certain that the owner of the tomb is Tang Shi Li Du. According to relevant records, the owners of the tomb, Li Du and Rencai, belonged to the Shangzhu state of the Tang Dynasty and were the official residences of Zhejiang Chongfu. The so-called "Shangzhu Kingdom" is actually a person who made great contributions at that time, so it is also known as the "Southern Pillar" or "Pillar stone in the dynasty". It can be seen that Li Du himself has a very extraordinary life.

Unfortunately, Li Du only lived until jinglong's fourth year, that is, his death in 710 AD. After his death, he was buried here until the tomb was stolen and then excavated by archaeology. From the early excavation, the tomb unearthed 5 pieces of celadon jars, copper spoons, copper chopsticks, copper hairpins, bone plates, epitaphs and so on. I have to say that there were not many excavations in the early days of the excavation of ancient tombs, and even only some objects of low value.

However, as the excavations deepened, archaeologists suddenly discovered that there were still many special objects hidden in the water of the burial chamber, including some pottery and porcelain. However, due to the different nature of various objects, most of the objects were damaged due to water immersion, leaving only a large number of works by Tang Sancai, as well as distinguished ladies, music and dance figurines, maid maids, servant figurines, etc.

After a series of investigations, the quality of the Tang Sancai varieties unearthed this time is very perfect. Therefore, after cleaning up, they were also sent to the Changzhi City Museum in Shanxi Province for further study by experts. The process of studying Tang Sancai is very complicated, but the archaeological staff has gained a lot, just in their investigation and communication, suddenly the staff noticed a very special Tang Sancai product - Tang Sancai statue.

Although Tang Sancai's figurine holding the duck was not large, the color was very bright. There are 7 colors, namely red, black, white, orange, green, blue and yellow. The figurine holding the duck is a young girl. She sat quietly on her knees, a duck clasped tightly to her chest. Because she is thin, she looks fat. From the point of view of clothing, although the girl was dressed in a fancy dress and had exquisite makeup, she still dressed like a servant. Naturally, it will be reminiscent of Li Du's maid image.

At this point, the question arises, why are archaeologists so interested in this little man holding a duck like a girl? Is it easy to say? It has become an important boutique among Tang Sancai. Do you all know this, most of the materials painted in Tang Sancai's works are utensils, such as Tang Sancai jars, wine glasses, etc., emphasizing practicality, while a small part of Tang Sancai tends to express meaning and pay attention to ornamentation, such as the famous Tang Sancai camel, etc., the purpose is to win the audience's love with the appearance of animals. Naturally, there is indeed a kind of Tang Sancai artifact specially created by craftsmen, which focuses on depicting various movements of Hu or Han people at banquets or in life to commemorate the lost people. Interestingly, this duck statue has 3 characteristics.

This object is not only for the use of the lost person, but also to graphically depict the expressions and movements of the characters, and cleverly contain animal elements in it, hence the name. He is the "master" of Tang Sancai artifacts. Friends, we have to admire the wisdom of the ancient people. When they created Tang Sancai, almost all their artistic energy was invested in the production of Tang Sancai, so that we were fortunate to see such exquisite cultural relics. Admirable and admirable.
