The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Relics announced on the 4th that an Egyptian archaeological team excavated 85 ancient tombs in the southern province of Sohag, some of which are about 4500 years old.
Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities said in a statement that the newly discovered ancient tomb complex is located about 350 kilometers south of Cairo, egypt's capital. The team found 30 death certificates next to the mummies in the tombs, which contained the names, occupations, ages and other information of the deceased in ancient Greek letters and ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. Some tombs are embedded in the mountains, and some have one or more wells, connected to the burial chambers by corridors.
The archaeological team also excavated the remains of a Ptolemaic III tower and the site of a temple dedicated to Isis, the goddess of fertility and reproduction, the statement said.
