Most of the wars in which General Yang Dezhi participated were before the founding of New China. In 1928, Yang Dezhi joined the Communist Party of China. He experienced land reform, the Long March of the Red Army, the Great Victory of Pingshiguan, the fight against traitors, the Battle of Shijiazhuang during the Liberation War, and some guerrilla warfare behind enemy lines, in which he made outstanding achievements.
Two of these battles are best known. One was a battle with the Kuomintang army in 1932, a battle in which fewer victories were more. At that time, the Kuomintang had three regiments, while the Communist side only had the 1st Regiment of the Red Army led by General Yang Dezhi, and whether or not this battle could be won had a lot to do with Yang Dezhi's correct command. After the victory of this battle, Yang Dezhi was awarded the Third Class Red Star Army Medal, which was a great encouragement to General Yang. During the Long March period, General Yang organized 17 warriors to fly to seize the Luding Bridge, so that the Red Army could successfully pass the Dadu Bridge and finally win the victory of the Long March.
Another battle was the well-known and well-known Battle of Pingxingguan during the War of Resistance Against Japan. The Battle of Pingxingguan was won by the 115th Division led by Lin Biao in the impression of the Chinese people. After the founding of New China, the general still did not stop busy for the people and the country, and continued to fight on the battlefield. After the outbreak of the Korean War, he led the 19th Corps to the Korean Battlefield and participated in the Fifth Campaign at that time.
