In order to punish his father and warn others, the landlord drove a carriage past Zhang Guibin's father. The big landlord was angry, but Zhang Guibin's father died on the spot.
Zhang Guibin's brother was taken away by the Kuomintang as a Zhuangding after he became an adult. Later, because he could not bear the abuse, he escaped, and then he was hunted down and killed by the Kuomintang, and his whereabouts are still unknown.
On February 19, 1948, Anshan was liberated, and in May of that year, the People's Liberation Army recruited troops in Anshan, and Zhang Guibin, who saw the news of the conscription, rushed with enthusiasm and thought of his father, who had died tragically, and his brother, who had not yet been missing. He resolutely signed up, he was going to join the army, he wanted more people to live a good life.
After returning home, Zhang Guibin told his mother and wife about his intention to join the army, and both were very opposed.
His mother thought it was too dangerous to be a soldier, and she only wanted Zhang Guibin to live in peace. Zhang Guibin's wife is because the two have just been married for a short time, and now she is two months pregnant.
The two persuaded for a long time, Zhang Guibin did not change his mind, so Zhang Guibin's mother found relatives and friends to persuade him, but Zhang Guibin was not moved. In desperation, Zhang Guibin's mother and wife could only watch him leave.
After entering the army, Zhang Guibin became a soldier in the 12th squad of the 3rd Platoon of the Stretcher Battalion of the 4th Column Logistics Department of the Northeast Field Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
Only five months after Zhang Guibin enlisted in the army, in October 1948, the Tashan Blockade War, which was known for its fierceness, began. Although he had just joined the army, Zhang Guibin was very brave and did not fear the enemy's artillery fire on the battlefield.
The war lasted for six days and six nights, and the fighting was fierce. It is no exaggeration to say that the bombing at that time directly swept away the mud in the Tashan base area.
But even with such a fierce artillery offensive, the Kuomintang troops never broke through the defense line of the PLA fighters.
Enemy bombardment
At that time, Zhang Guibin was serving in the stretcher battalion, and his job was to carry wounded soldiers off the battlefield. But the battle was fierce, and when the battle began, they had no time to carry the wounded away.
As a soldier in the stretcher battalion, Zhang Guibin often did not care about the wounded when the battle was fierce, and he directly picked up the gun and began to fight.
When the enemy retreated, Zhang Guibin went to rescue the wounded soldiers, and at first he was still carrying them on stretchers, and then there were more and more wounded, and they changed from carrying to their backs, and they were directly helped to go when they encountered minor injuries.
During a battle, Zhang Guibin was injured by a bomb dropped by the enemy, and his left leg was cut off by shrapnel, but because of the urgency of the battle, he could not care about bandaging, but the blood on his leg was not the way to do it.
In a hurry, he looked at the surrounding rubble, grabbed the debris directly and covered the wound, and then wrapped the wound with a long cloth strip for leggings.
After doing this, Zhang Guibin picked up the gun again and shot at the enemy fiercely.
Even the wounds could not be properly bandaged, and it is conceivable that this war was undoubtedly very tragic, and the more he went to the back, the more fierce the battle became.
In the end, the soldiers lying on the trenches did not have time to carry them off the battlefield after being sacrificed, and the soldiers behind them lay on the corpses of their comrades and continued to fight, and the corpses on the trenches could have three layers after a war.
The People's Liberation Army fought so hard for its life, and on October 15, Tashan was victorious in the blockade. But behind this victory, Zhang Guibin's 2 companies, all 120 people, and finally only three people remained, including Zhang Guibin himself.
This war directly affected the outcome of the Liaoshen Campaign, and after the Liaoshen Campaign, there was a voice within the Kuomintang that "the defeat of the party-state was defeated at Tashan." ”
Because of Zhang Guibin's heroic performance in the Battle of Tashan, after the war, he was awarded the honorary title of "Meritorious Hero of the People" and recorded a great merit. After the liberation of Beijing, Chairman Mao and other central leaders also received Zhang Guibin.
Join the Communist Party
In February 1949, Zhang Guibin officially joined the Communist Party of China, which made him very proud, because Zhang Guibin's company had only 3 Communists, and he was the fourth. That said, it was another honor for him.
When he joined the Communist Party, Zhang Guibin secretly decided in his heart: Now that I am a formal Communist Party member, I will have to listen more to the party and follow the party.
After becoming a member of the Communist Party, Zhang Guibin participated in the liberation of Zhangjiakou, and then followed the troops to Henan, Hebei, Hunan, Hubei, Guangxi, Guangdong and other places, participating in countless large and small battles.
And because of the tension of the war, they have to march tens of kilometers on foot every day and be ready to fight at any time.
In the three years from 1950 to 1953, Zhang Guibin successively served in the 41st Army of the People's Liberation Army as a sergeant of the health team of the Logistics Department, a sergeant of the telecommunications team, a supply clerk of the communications section, and the director of the military direct communications battalion.
Until 1953, Zhang Guibin was in Guangzhou, where he sent a family letter to his wife, the first time he had written to his family in five years since he joined the army.
Zhang Guibin's wife, Ding Fengzhen, wept with joy after receiving the letter, and during the five years of waiting for her husband, her every day was undoubtedly difficult and worried. She was not sure of her husband's life or death, so the letter was invaluable to her.
Then she decided to go to Guangzhou to find her husband, and she, a woman who had never been far away, took a five-year-old girl and set off.

At the end of the year, Zhang Guibin had a recurrence of an old injury to his left leg due to years of urgent marching and long-term work fatigue, and he could only be admitted to the military hospital for treatment. In July 1954, he went to a nursing home in Xianning, Hubei Province, to continue treatment.
Soon after, however, due to the increase in the number of wounded, there were not enough beds in the hospital. After thinking about it, Zhang Guibin thought that his legs might not be completely better, and then staying in the army would become a drag on the troops.
So he offered to be demobilized and gave up his precious bed.
Zhang Guibin has been performing very well in the past few years in the army, so he was given two options organizationally: one was to work in the customs office of Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province; the other was to work in the public security bureau of Hankou City, Hubei Province.
But Zhang Guibin, after considering it, refused. Because he wanted to go back to his hometown, to his mother's side.

At this point, Zhang Guibin's military career in the army was completely over, and in the past few years, he had made four major meritorious deeds and four small meritorious deeds, and won the honorary title of "Meritorious Servant of the People". At this time, Zhang Guibin thought that he was a party member, a veteran, and wanted to come back to build his hometown, so he donated all of his 120 yuan restoration fee and used the money to buy three horses and a large car for production.
120 yuan can be said to be a huge amount of money at the beginning, when Zhang Guibin's family was not rich, and the whole family lived in several grass houses.
At that time, this one hundred and twenty yuan could not only buy five beautiful large tile houses, but also change the embarrassment of Zhang Guibin's family.
But Zhang Guibin believes that the township needs this money more to build.
When Zhang Guibin returned to his hometown, because he returned to his hometown with an injury, he was given a lot of medicine by the organization to let him treat his legs.
But after he returned home, he found that in his hometown, medicines were very rare, and then he no longer used these medicines, but kept them for the people in the village, as long as anyone in the village was sick, he would take some of them to treat people.
However, Zhang Guibin, who has no medicine to treat the disease, is often limping, and even when the disease recurs, he can only eat a few bites of food at a time.
Ding Fengzhen looked at her husband like this, and did not blame him for giving the medicine to others, but she was very distressed about her husband's appearance, and she hoped that he could go to the hospital to see it, but Zhang Guibin did not think so.

When Zhang Guibin was a member of the Production Society, he was just, thought of the people in everything, and did his best to do things for the people, and it was precisely in this way that his practical actions also won the admiration and trust of the whole village.
Later, Zhang Guibin was arranged to be the director of the credit union, and a difficult household borrowed a sum of money for emergency use, but when it was time to repay, the family could not repay the money. After Zhang Guibin understood the situation, he repaid the loan himself.
When locals learned of this, they called him "stupid" every time they saw him. But Zhang Guibin didn't care what others said, every time he heard these words, he just smiled and said, it was a difficult household, and he could help a little.
Although the big guys will say this, they all admire him in their hearts, after all, the difficult household is really difficult, and the other party is not the kind of person who has money and does not want to pay it back.

In 1962, a family came from the small wharf village of Xiliu Town. Zhang Guibin took the initiative to help their family settle down.

During this period, Zhao Guibin helped Li Ensi's father buy medicine, helped him with injections, and tried his best to take care of this disease number, but Li Ensi's father finally died, zhang Guibin saw that Li Ensi was young, and took the initiative to help take care of the aftermath.
Although only Li Ensi and his mother were left in the end, with the help of Zhang Guibin, they could still live in peace and stability in the village.
Principled Communist Party member
In 1964, the organization arranged for Zhang Guibin to take up the position of accountant at the power supply station in Xiliu Town.

During his four years as director of the power supply station, he often worked until midnight, especially in the work of collecting electricity bills from the people, and his review work was extremely accurate.
As the person in charge of the power supply plant at that time, he could not only ensure that the people did not suffer losses in collecting electricity bills, but also ensure that the country was not damaged and truly impartial, so many people said that he was a communist party member who adhered to principles.
In 1968, Zhang Guibin was arranged to be the head of the equipment depot of the Haicheng Agricultural and Electric Bureau, and at that time, the haicheng countryside was not electrified, and Zhang Guibin's task was to build a power grid for the countryside.
At that time, the transportation was inconvenient, and the equipment for the power grid needed them to be transported from the train, and the entire train of poles, wires and transformers needed them to carry the carriage with manpower.
After that, it is pulled by the horse-drawn carriage to the equipment depot of the Haicheng Agricultural and Electric Bureau, and it is often the equipment that has just entered the warehouse and is immediately pulled away.
In this way, they often work until the middle of the night, and sometimes when there is no new equipment in the warehouse, Zhang Gui will drag his injured leg to help lift the telephone pole and build a line on the construction site, which has been done for more than a month.
During this period, many people advised him not to follow these hard work, which was not good for his legs. But Zhang Guibin's enthusiasm for work was extremely high, and others could not be persuaded at all, because he wanted the people to use electricity quickly.
When he saw the electric lights in the people's homes come on, he would not even be able to sleep happily at night.
Zhang Guibin's home is not close to the unit, and every day when he goes to work, he has an hour and a half drive.
When the weather is good, his leg is not a big problem, but on a rainy day, his leg injury will occur. But even so, Zhang Guibin still endured the severe pain in his left leg and arrived at the unit on time.
Day after day, year after year. In September 1978, Zhang Guibin's leg injury worsened again, and it reached the point where he could no longer continue to work, so in order not to drag down the organization, he proposed to retire.
But Zhang Guibin is not a person who can idle, and when his leg injury improves, he goes to the unit again and helps without pay.
At that time, it was also the expansion of the equipment depot of the Haicheng Agricultural and Electricity Bureau, and the leaders of the Agricultural and Electric Power Bureau saw that Zhang Guibin's injuries had improved and often came to help, so they proposed to re-hire.
At that time, the management of the equipment depot was manual bookkeeping, and the person who could serve as an administrator must be a person of high quality and who understood the business.
Zhang Guibin has been working in this position for ten years, and he is the most suitable person in every way. After that, Zhang Guibin worked in this position until 1985 before officially leaving his post.
Live a simple and self-insistent life
Now Zhang Guibin lives in a small house with an area of only 31 square meters, and only he and his wife Ding Fengzhen live in the family. Small rooms, old furniture, no kitchen at home, three meals a day are delivered to the home by the daughter of the old couple.
Although his life was not rich, Zhang Guibin was very content, and he often said:
"I'm doing very well now, and I'm still very happy compared to those comrades who sacrificed."

But every time Zhang Guibin fell ill, if he did not have to be hospitalized, he would never be hospitalized. Even if he had to be hospitalized, as soon as his condition improved, he would immediately ask to be discharged. Whenever his children discouraged him from leaving, he would say: Don't waste the resources of the country.
Usually buy medicine money he generally does not brush the medical insurance card, Zhang Guibin believes that he now has money, but he can not afford to buy drugs, there is no need to use the state's money.
He felt that he was taking advantage of the country by using the money on his health insurance card. He didn't want to take advantage of this, he thought: if he uses less of the country's money, then the money will be used to help those whose lives are more difficult.
An old hero who loves the party and the country
When Zhang Guibin was in his seventies, he told his children that if he died, he must put a party flag on himself, and everything else did not matter, he hoped that he could also be with the party when he left.
