In August of the fourth year of Emperor Taizong's Taiping Revival, Zhao Dezhao killed himself. The cause was that Zhao Dezhao accompanied Song Taizong to conquer Youzhou, Song Taizong was injured by the liao army's arrow, and at night everyone did not see the emperor, and there was a panic in the army, and some people proposed to establish Zhao Dezhao, the king of Wugong County, as emperor.

After some time, Zhao Dezhao came forward to ask for a reward for the soldiers of the Northern Expedition, and was angrily reprimanded by Song Taizong: "When you become emperor yourself, it is not too late to give them a reward." Zhao Dezhao was choked by the emperor's uncle, knowing that he had come for what had happened in the army before, and Zhao Dezhao, who was as loyal and kind as his father Zhao Kuangyin, thought more and more and was more afraid, and when he went home, he killed himself.

Zhao Dezhao had just died more than a year ago, and his brother Zhao Dezhao had also died, and the heir to the throne of Empress Dowager Du's last words was left with Zhao Tingmei, the King of Qin, and Zhao Tingmei's mood could be imagined, and he was worried all day that one day he would not be allowed to die like the two imperial nephews.
At that time, Lu Doxun was in power in the imperial court, and Zhao Pu repeatedly requested to enter the capital to meet the emperor. Lu Doxun was at odds with Zhao Pu, and fearing that this wrongdoer would come out again, he slandered Zhao Pu in front of Song Taizong, saying that Zhao Pu had no idea of establishing Song Taizong at all, and Zhao Pu was blocked by Lu Duoxun and was depressed.

Chai Yuxi, Zhao Rong, and Yang Shou, the former ministers of Emperor Taizong of Song in the Palace of Jin, pondered the emperor's thoughts and came forward to tell Zhao Tingmei, the king of Qin, that there would be a conspiracy to shake Zhao Tingmei's position. Emperor Taizong of Song asked Zhao Pu that Zhao Pu was worried about returning to the center of the imperial court every day and could not use any means, so he took the opportunity to propose that he was "willing to return to the imperial court and investigate the treachery and chaos." He also complained to himself that "as a former founding minister, he was slandered by Minister Quan Xing." He also talked about Empress Zhaoxian's last words to let Zhao Pu testify and to write to Zhao Kuangyin to defend himself.
In order to verify the authenticity of the matter, Song Taizong opened the Golden Temple, saw the oath written with "Chenpu Ji" and Zhao Pu's self-defense letter, so he summoned Zhao Pu. Zhao Pu returned to the imperial court as he wished, and was soon appointed situ and attendant, and was made the Duke of Liang.
Coincidentally, someone again accused Zhao Tingmei, the king of Qin, of wanting to make trouble while Song Taizong was riding Xichi, and Song Taizong asked Zhao Pu for advice on the issue of succession to the throne, and Zhao Pu said, "Taizu has been wrong, how can Your Majesty be wrong again?" "Answer. So Emperor Taizong of Song demoted Zhao Tingmei from Kaifeng Fuyin to Xijing. In order to reward Zhao Tingmei for his merits, Emperor Taizong of Song promoted Chai Yuxi to the position of Deputy Privy Councillor, Yang Shouyi as the Privy Counsellor, and Zhao Rong as the Envoy of the Eastern Gate.
Subsequently, he also investigated the officials who had associated with Zhao Tingmei, dismissed Chen Congding, the general of the Left Guard and the Privy Council, from his position as a privy councillor, demoted Liu Zhixin to the position of a right guard general, the bow and arrow library demoted Hui Yanzhen to the governor of Shang Prefecture, the forbidden military lieutenant Emperor Fu Jiming to the commander of the Ruzhou Ma Infantry Army, and the dingren Wang Rong to the post of puzhou coach.
Zhao Pu stepped on zhao tingmei, the king of Qin, to restore the position of prime minister, and his nemesis Lu Duoxun was not sure in his heart. Zhao Pu repeatedly hinted at Ludoson to retire, but LuDoson coveted power and hesitated. Zhao Pu then told Emperor Taizong of Song that Lu Duoxun had sent the official Zhao Bai to contact Zhao Tingmei, and that Emperor Taizong of Song had made a big fuss and ordered Lu Duoxun to be arrested in the Imperial History Prison, and that Zhao Bai, the official of the Zhongshu Shoutang, Yan Mi, the official of the Qin Dynasty, and Wang Jixun, a minor official, were also arrested.
Hanlin undertook Ludoson
Emperor Taizong of Song ordered Hanlin Chengzhi to have a trial with the scholar Hu Meng, Wei Weiqing Cui Renji, Yu Shi Teng Zhongzheng, and others, and the result of the interrogation was that Lu Duoxun and Zhao Tingmei had private contacts. In his confession, Lu Doxun said that he had told Zhao Tingmei the secrets of the imperial court many times, and "hoped that the emperor would die and wholeheartedly assist the King of Qin", and Zhao Tingmei also sent Fan Deming, a small official of the Qin government, to send a message to Lu Doxun: "You are right in my mind." With this evidence of guilt, whether Lu Doxun can save his life depends on Song Taizong's mood.
Then it was found that The Qin government Kongmu Yan Mi was arrogant and lawless, and the small official Wang Jixun searched for Ge Ji for the King of Qin, which further aggravated Zhao Tingmei's guilt. Emperor Taizong of Song summoned the Ministers of Culture and Military Affairs to discuss how to deal with Zhao Tingmei, Lu Duoxun, and others, and the result of the discussion was that Zhao Tingmei was allowed to return to his private residence and live idly, and Zhao Tingmei's subordinate officials Yan Ju and Sun Yu were also implicated, and they were demoted to Fuzhou and Rongzhou to join the army. Ludoson was exiled to Cliff State. Zhao Bai, Fan Deming, Yan Mi, and Wang Jixun were beheaded.
Zhao Pu simply did not stop doing two things, and then asked Li Fushang of Kaifeng Province to play a chapter saying: "Zhao Tingmei did not want to repent, and had grievances, so he begged to move to a distant place in case something else happened." As a result, Zhao Tingmei was demoted from the King of Qin to the Duke of Fuling County and placed in Fangzhou. He also put Yan Yanjin of Fangzhou Zhizhou and Yuan Kuo in charge of monitoring Zhao Tingmei. Zhao Pu, worried that Li Fu had leaked secrets, found a crime and exiled him to Chunzhou, and after more than a year, Li Fu died.

Zhao Tingmei arrived in Fangzhou, worried and fearful day and night, and died of illness in less than two years. Zhao Pu, as the initiator, also avoided the cost of going to the post of prime minister and degrading him to the wusheng army. Throughout Zhao Pu's life, at first he assisted Zhao Kuangyin, the grandfather of the Song Dynasty, to establish the Song Dynasty and set up the national policy, which can be said to be outstanding, but then he was tied up by fame and fortune, gradually lost himself, and separated his flesh and bones for his own selfish desires, harming others and ultimately harming himself, which is lamentable to read!
