Chen Xuandi: My bastard son

Portrait of Chen Xuandi

Chen Shujian (陈叔健), courtesy name Zicheng, was the fourth son of Emperor Xuan of Chen.

The birth mother He Shi was born in a humble background, and when she was young, she worked as a slave in a restaurant, and when Chen Huan was not yet developed, she often went to the restaurant to drink, and hooked up with the He family one after another.

Soon after He Shi gave birth to a son, Chen Yan took the child away, and it was not until he became emperor that he summoned He Shi into the palace and was given the title of Shuyi.

When Chen Shujian was young, he was a child who had no mother to love, so he developed a cruel and tyrannical personality.

In the first year of Taijian (569 AD), the seventeen-year-old Chen Shujian was made the King of Changsha and successively held official positions such as Taishou of Wu County, Jiangzhou Thorn History, Yingzhou Thorn History, and Guangzhou Thorn History.

Chen Shujian drank heavily all day long, often beating up his subordinates.

The Book of Revelation records:

Chen Shujian was "arrogant and tyrannical", and every time he ate, he let Cangcao accompany him, and when he was about to eat, he asked him: "Can you remove the food?" ”

If Cangcao said yes, Chen Shujian would rebuke him: "Do you want to starve me to death?" ”

So he blamed cangcao's staff.

Cang Cao said no, Chen Shujian would say, "Why do you want to kill me?" ”

So it was another scolding, in short, this Cangcao had to be beaten at every meal.

Chen Shujian was cruel to his subordinates, and often got angry with his brothers to find a fight, so that the brothers were afraid of him and avoided him.

Chen Shujian and his second brother Chen Shuling are sworn enemies, the two can be described as needles pointed at Mai Mang, in order to cultivate power, the two competed to win over the chancellor, making the court chicken dog restless.

The two brothers did not give in to each other when they met, every time they entered the Hajj to meet the emperor, they would compete for the leading position on the road, and sometimes the two groups of cars would have friction, and the light ones would fight hard, and the serious point would cause people to die.

Emperor Chen Xuandi couldn't do anything with these two bastard sons, he couldn't listen to them, and it was useless to scold them.

During Emperor Chen Xuan's serious illness, Chen Shujian and his second brother Chen Shuling were still vying to be filial piety and feed medicine to his father, And Emperor Chen Xuandi saw it in his eyes and was angry in his heart, and it didn't take long for him to die.

After the death of Emperor Xuan of Chen, the eldest son Chen Shubao succeeded to the throne, chen Shuling was not convinced, so he took advantage of the fact that the eldest brother Chen Shubao was guarding the spirit of the old father, and slashed at the eldest brother with a file medicine knife.

Chen Shuling was too eager, resulting in a mistake, but only cut Chen Shubao's back, and when he was about to cut the second knife, Chen Shujian stopped the second brother and saved the eldest brother's life.

Chen Shuling was killed in a failed coup, and Chen Shubao successfully ascended to the throne, because the wounds did not heal, he ordered his younger brother Chen Shujian to handle military affairs in his place.

Chen Shujian was in a position of great power, arbitrary, "arrogant and conniving, and many illegal things", and began to covet the position of emperor.

Because of his humble origins, and because most of the ministers were Chen Shubao's old subordinates during the Eastern Palace period, no one supported Chen Shujian.

After Chen Shubao recovered from his injuries, he expelled Chen Shujian from the palace and gave him an official position as an assassin in Jiangzhou.

Chen Shujian had not yet taken up his post, and the imperial court changed him to Sikong, which was actually to regain all the military power.

Chen Shujian was very dissatisfied, so he secretly cursed the emperor with witchcraft, and was later denounced.

Chen Shubao was furious and planned to execute his brother, but Chen Shujian refused to admit it, and Chen Shubao remembered that his brother had saved himself, so he pardoned him for his capital crimes and removed all official positions.

Chen Shubao retained the title of prince of his younger brother Chen Shujian, who lived in his own palace, and soon resumed his use, successively serving as an official in shizhong, jingzhou assassin history, kaifu yi tongsan division, and worshiping the general of the Chinese army.

During the Sui Dynasty, Chen Shujian also served as the Taishou of Suining County, but his subsequent events are not recorded.
