Liu Jingyan (533–615), a native of Xie County, Hedong, daughter of Liu Yan, Taishou of Poyang, mother of Princess Great Wall, daughter of Emperor Xiao Yan of Liangwu, and Empress Chen of Chen xuan.
Liu Jingyan has a beautiful appearance and a modest and cautious personality. His great-grandfather, Liu Shilong, was a Southern Dynasty Qi servant, Sikong, and Shang Shuling, and was given the title of Duke of Zhongwu of Zhenyang. His grandfather, Liu Yun (柳恽), was very famous in the Southern Dynasty Liang Dynasty, and was posthumously awarded the title of Servant of the Middle and Middle Guards. His father, Liu Yan, married Princess Great Wall, the daughter of Emperor Xiao Yan of Liangwu, was appointed as a lieutenant of the Horse Guards, and had a life with Princess Liu Jingyan of the Great Wall. During the Dabao period, he served as the Taishou of Poyang and died in office.

In the eighth year of Datong (542), when his father Liu Yan died, Liu Jingyan was only nine years old and took care of family affairs, like an adult.
During Hou Jing's rebellion, Liu Jingyan and his younger brother Liu Pan went to Jiangling (江陵, in modern Jiangling, Hubei) to attach themselves to Emperor Xiao of Liangyuan, who was the brother of Princess Great Wall and Liu Jingyan's uncle, so he received Liu Jingyan very favorably. At that time, Chen Huan rushed to Jiangling to guard Emperor Liang Yuan, and Emperor Liang Yuan married Liu Jingyan to Chen Huan.

Later, Chen Yan was given the title of Prince of Ancheng, and Liu Jingyan was made Princess ancheng. In the first year of Tiankang (566), Chen Huan succeeded to the throne as Emperor Xuan of Chen, and Li Liu Jingyan was made empress. His son Chen Shubao was made crown prince.
