In Huaminglou, Ningxiang County, Hunan Province, there is an ordinary small mountain village called Tanzichong. In history, many people here made a living by cutting wood and burning charcoal, and over time they were called "charcoal punches". It is a place with beautiful mountains and rivers and rich products. There is an old house under the hillside on the east side of Tanzichong, where Liu Shaoqi was born on November 24, 1898.
After the birth of this child, his father Liu Shousheng named him Shaoxuan according to the family genealogy regulations. Because he was the last of the nine uncles and brothers, and the last child was called "Manzai" in the local slang language, his family also called him "Jiuman" and "Jiumanzi".
The birth of the nine men brought a lot of joy to the family, and the father's integrity, his mother's perseverance, and the diligent efforts of his brothers and sisters also subtly affected him. His childhood was spent in the ditches and ridges of charcoal. From the age of five or six, he would go down to the field with his family to weed and go up the mountain with his childhood friends to herd cattle.
Fast forward to 1906, and the nine men turned 8 years old. His father sent him to a private school in Tuomu Chong, three miles away from Tanzi Chong, to study and go to school, which was located in the home of his teacher Zhu Zanchen. Teacher Zhu not only read poetry and books, but also was upright and of good character, and was deeply respected by the villagers. People affectionately called him "Zhu Wu Ah Gong".
In fact, Zhu Wugong's family was not rich, and his main source of livelihood depended on farming. His meager income from teaching can only supplement the family. Most of the people who came here to study were children of nearby peasant families, and there were about thirty people.
Mr. Zhu's yard planted a lot of fruit trees, and when the fruit was ripe, there were always students who could not resist the temptation of sweet fruits and secretly picked a few reliefs. Among these students, only Liu Shaoqi had the strongest restraint and never stole fruit. So After the pomegranates were ripe, Zhu Wugong gave two large red pomegranates to the child as a reward.
Receiving the reward from Mr. Liu Shaoqi, Liu Shaoqi was very happy. He returned to the classroom and used a knife to divide the pomegranate into petals and distribute them to his classmates. All this was seen by Mr. Zhu, who was not far away, and he was pleased that this student had such excellent character at such a young age. Mr. Zhu once explained the story of Kong Rong to the students many times in his usual lectures, telling the children to know how to care for others and establish the virtue of being a person.
Mr. Zhu's method of education that is followed by good manners and reasonableness has left a deep impression on Liu Shaoqi. Decades later, Liu Shaoqi, who has become the president of the republic, recalled his childhood past and said: "I will never forget this enlightenment teacher who taught me to read and write and teach me to be a human being." ”

The old man touched his head, and after a little thought, he said, "Then call Deng Xixian!" In this way, Deng Xiansheng changed his scientific name to Deng Xixian. Since then, his family has begun to call him "Xianwa'er".
At the age of 7, Deng Xiaoping transferred to Beishan Junior High School in Xiexing County. Four years later, the 11-year-old Xianwa'er was transferred to the Guang'an County Higher Primary School. At that time, the school offered science courses, mainly teaching some general knowledge of physics and chemistry in life.
