"There is no separation from the old, there is always a reunion, and may all the sentient beings in the world become dependents." ——Wang Shifu, "The Tale of the West Chamber"
In the summer of 1947, a Henan boy in his forties named Liu Zhendong married Fu Yufang, a factory worker, in Beiping, and the two lived a harmonious and complete family life ever since. However, after marriage, Liu Zhendong has always felt that his wife is not an ordinary factory woman. Because she is not only proficient in piano, chess, calligraphy and painting, but also speaks fluent English.
A few years after a happy and happy life, Liu Zhendong's wife Fu Yufang died of illness. On her deathbed, Fu Yufang finally confessed her origin and history to her husband, who had always loved her deeply. At this time, Liu Zhendong suddenly discovered that the wife who was very good-looking was actually the concubine of the last emperor, Wen Xiu.

So, how did Liu Zhendong get acquainted with Wen Xiu?
Speaking of the wonder of fate, two people who could not be hit by eight poles originally came together after experiencing ups and downs and were introduced by others.
On August 25, 1931, Wen Xiu, who was able to escape from Jingyuan, lived in seclusion in Tianjin. At this time, she made an "earth-shattering" big thing. She paid for two lawyers, Zhang Shaozeng and Zhang Shijun, to file a divorce complaint with the last emperor Puyi like the Tianjin court, and demanded personal daily necessities and half a million yuan in alimony.
In the final result, the Tianjin court ruled that the two divorced, and finally Puyi paid Wenxiu 55,000 yuan in alimony and allowed Wenxiu to take away his daily necessities. After Wen Xiu made this "earth-shattering" event, it can be said that it shocked the whole of China. You know, in the nearly three hundred years under the rule of the Qing Dynasty, Wen Xiu was still the first person who dared to file a divorce with the emperor and succeeded.
However, at that time, society was extremely "unfriendly" to such a woman. After the divorce, Wen Xiu could only live in a rented house in Beiping because his mother had long since passed away. And the 55,000 yuan of alimony she received was mostly cheated away by Yufen, who helped fight the lawsuit, after paying the lawyer's fees. Wen Xiu, who had little money left, was repeatedly extorted by the Japanese and pseudo-police, so that she eventually became a poor person.
Cornered, Wen Xiu changed his name to Fu Yufang, and then had the honor of applying for the position of teaching Chinese language and painting teacher at Sicun Middle School in Youjie Street, Beiping Province. After a period of teaching, it can be said that it is the most beautiful time in the life of Wen Xiu. Because of its serious teaching and delicate face, it is deeply loved by students.
However, this happy time did not last long, I don't know who publicized Fu Yufang's identity as Puyi's concubine Wenxiu, so that the people who admired the imperial concubine were endless, causing her great embarrassment. In the end, Wen Xiu had to resign as a teacher and return to a hard life of selling physical labor. At home, she and her sister Wen Shan sold paper boxes at home for money, and later even went to work as a coolie in the bricklayers' team. Later, because of the fatigue, he had to sell cigarettes in the streets and alleys.
In 1945, after the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan, Wenxiu's life seemed to have taken a turn for the better. After being introduced by a friend, she worked as a proofreader at the Beiping North China Daily newspaper. At this time, I have tasted the hunger and coldness of the world, and I deeply understand that this job is not easy to come by. Therefore, she always takes her work very seriously. In this way, Wen Xiu gradually received the weight of Zhang Mingwei, the president of the newspaper.
Zhang Mingwei lamented that this serious work and good quality of the woman's life is too difficult, so he introduced her to Liu Zhendong and promoted the marriage of Wen Xiu and Liu Zhendong.
So, is there anything special about Liu Zhendong, a young man?
Speaking of which, Liu Zhendong, who was already in his forties at the time, was also an ordinary person. The only thing that is special is that he once joined the Kuomintang and had the status of a soldier.
Liu Zhendong was born in a poor family in Henan, and because he had read a few years of books in his early years, he was more sensible. At the age of seventeen, Liu Zhendong joined the Kuomintang army and became a small soldier. However, because of his heroic combat and repeated military achievements, he was quickly promoted to the position of major officer. However, due to the perennial military outing, he was in his forties and still had not yet started a family.
After the end of the War of Resistance Against Japan, the Kuomintang captured Peiping, and Liu Zhendong was responsible for managing the zhongnanhai warehouse. At this time, Liu Zhendong was introduced by Zhang Mingwei to Wen Xiu. After half a year of understanding and falling in love, the two decided to marry in Beiping in the summer of 1947.
After getting married, Liu Zhendong and Wenxiu lived in a rented house in Beiping Xicheng, and it was this happy family life that completely completely completed Wenxiu's entire life. From Liu Zhendong, Wen Xiu felt a love that he had never felt before.
After marriage, Liu Zhendong can always find out from some details that his wife is not as simple as an ordinary female worker. Because of his wife's extraordinary temperament, Liu Zhendong always felt that his wife was from everyone's boudoir background. However, out of respect for his wife, Liu Zhendong did not dwell on this and gave his wife enough respect. In this regard, Wen Xiu is also full of gratitude.
In 1941, after the peaceful liberation of Peiping, the people's government took over the city of Beiping. Because of the needs of the revolution, our Party immediately issued a circular order requiring all military, police, and special personnel who were originally subordinate to the Kuomintang to be registered. Even the embroidery experienced by the husband has carried out persuasion work for the husband. Then, Liu Zhendong truthfully registered and confessed that he had been a major officer of the Kuomintang.
Subsequently, after study, our party decided not to arrest, detain, and other punitive measures against Liu Zhendong. It simply defines it as a historical counter-revolutionary and places it under the supervision and control of the masses. The result of such a relaxed treatment made Both Liu Zhendong and Wen Xiu and his wife breathe a sigh of relief.
So, how did Liu Zhendong and his wife live later?
Liu Zhendong and Wen Xiu did live a period of joy and joy after our party took over Peiping City, but unfortunately Wen Xiu fell seriously ill and died in 1953 after several medical treatments.
In 1951, after two years of life, Liu Zhendong was released from supervision and control by the Beijing Municipal People's Government for his good performance. Not only that, Liu Zhendong was also redistributed to work, became a worker in the Xicheng District cleaning team, and had a fixed salary income.
At this point, Liu Zhendong and Wen Xiu and his wife had a source of livelihood guarantee, and their lives began to become happy. In the following days, Wen Xiu followed Liu Zhendong to the Xicheng Peichai Hutong near the cleaning team, and the two settled here, full of longing for a happy life.
However, it is very unfortunate that Wen Xiu suffered from a serious heart attack due to the hardships and hardships of her early years. This kind of thing gave the two a big blow. Later, due to the ineffectiveness of several treatments, Wen Xiu died on September 18, 1953, at the age of forty-five.
On his deathbed, Wen Xiu confessed to her husband Liu Zhendong the "secret" he had hidden. At this time, Liu Zhendong realized that his wife was actually the last emperor Puyi's former concubine Wenxiu. Liu Zhendong, who was extremely surprised, remembered that his wife knew all the piano, chess, calligraphy and painting, and knew English, and then he was relieved.
After Wen Xiu's death, Liu Zhendong asked the cleaning team for four wooden planks and built a suggested coffin for his wife. With the help of his colleagues, Liu Zhendong buried Fu Yufang, the Imperial Concubine of the Qing Dynasty and his wife, outside Anding gate in Beijing. After that, Liu Zhendong lived alone and never married a wife.
In the Tucheng Public Cemetery area outside the Anding Gate, there is no tombstone in front of Wenxiu's grave, except that the loess soil covers up Wenxiu's coffin, and also hides her miserable life from the out-of-favor imperial concubine of the Qing Dynasty to the common people. Time has passed, the years have passed, and the graves left by this legendary woman in the world have disappeared.
From a historical point of view, she was a victim of the poison of feudal society. In the eyes of others, Wen Xiu's life is undoubtedly miserable. From an aristocratic imperial concubine to a depressed poor person, his tragic life experience makes people lament the difficulty of the world. Fortunately, however, in the last few years of her life, WenXiu harvested a complete family and enjoyed the human pleasure of being a woman.
For such a woman who has been persecuted by the old society, it is also a blessing in misfortune to be able to feel the happiness of life in the last few years. Of course, compared to our current lives, we are undoubtedly much happier.
From this point of view, we must not forget the sacrifices made by the heroes who threw their heads and blood for the country. Without those heroes who fought silently, how could we live a peaceful and happy life today?
