During the Xi'an Incident, Qian Dajun transferred one of Chiang Kai-shek's French-made tourist trains, which made the suspicious Chiang Kai-shek begin to wonder whether the reason why Zhang Xueliang detained him was that Qian Dajun, a close confidant around him, conspired with Zhang Xueliang and once strictly guarded and investigated.

So, who is Qian Dajun? Why did Chiang Kai-shek suspect him of collusion with Zhang Xueliang?

Chiang Kai-shek's special car was driven away!

On December 12, 1936, the "Xi'an Incident" broke out that shocked China and foreign countries.

Before the incident, Qian Dajun followed Chiang Kai-shek to Xi'an. Chiang Kai-shek had ordered Qian Dajun to contact Zhang Xueliang, hoping to use the friendship between the two of them who had worked together in the "General Commander-in-Chief of Hubei, Henan, and Anhui" (Zhang Xueliang was then deputy commander-in-chief, and Qian Dajun was the chief of the general staff) and "Wuchang Xingying" (Zhang Xueliang was the director at the time, and Qian Dajun was the chief of staff) to divide the relationship between the Northeast Army and the top brass of the Northwest Army.

On the day of the Xi'an Incident, Qian Dajun was staying in Huaqingchi. He was "awakened by (Jiang) Xiaoxian's entourage in a deep sleep" and found that "there were already people wearing gray cloth coats and black leather collars on the side, shooting and walking towards the seated room." Qian Dajun rushed out from behind Huaqing Pool in a hurry, and was walking by huaqing Pool when a stray bullet hit him, "the bullet entered through the ribs, but came out of the left shoulder", "bleeding a lot". He had to sit on the ground and constantly shouted to stop shooting, and was sent to the hospital by the general of the Northeast Army for treatment. When Song Meiling, Song Ziwen, and Duan Na went to Xi'an to visit Chiang Kai-shek, they also made a special trip to the hospital to visit Qian Dajun.

However, after the Xi'an Incident, Chiang Kai-shek returned to Nanjing, and instead of immediately "reusing" Qian Dajun because he was wounded by the northeast army's gunshots, he ordered a strict investigation of Qian Dajun.

This is because on the eve of the incident, Qian Dajun happened to divert a French-made tour train parked at Lintong Station as a special purpose for Chiang Kai-shek's operations, and Qian Dajun had a close relationship with Zhang Xueliang, so Chiang Kai-shek suspected that Qian Dajun did this in order to prevent him from having the opportunity to escape by train when the Northeast Army came to arrest him.

Before the Xi'an Incident, why did Chiang Kai-shek suspect that qian Dajun, the most trusted person, was conspiring with Zhang Xueliang?

Qian Dajun (1893~1982), a native of Wu County, Jiangsu Province, was born in the northeast village of Yajing Village (now Yushan Town, Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province). General of the Chinese Nationalist Army, Lieutenant General of the Army plus the rank of General.

He was a kuomintang veteran and an instructor at the early days of the Whampoa Military Academy. In his early years, he actively participated in the anti-Qing and overthrow of Yuan, and later served Chiang Kai-shek in the warlord melee, and was entrusted with a heavy responsibility - the director of the attendant office of the chairman of the Military Commission of the Nationalist Government, a lieutenant general in the army, and was one of Chiang Kai-shek's eight king kongs. After the Xi'an Incident, Chiang Kai-shek began to suspect Qian Dajun and sent someone to investigate whether he had conspired with Zhang Xueliang to traditional the Xi'an Incident. At first, Chiang Kai-shek firmly believed in his own judgment, but later, after repeated explanations, Qian Dajun was able to get Chiang Kai-shek's forgiveness.

The main reason why Chiang Kai-shek was able to forgive him was because this person was relatively honest. In addition, Chiang Kai-shek considered that Zhang Xueliang was already under house arrest and had no threat to him, even if he forgave Qian Dajun, there was nothing wrong with him.
