After graduating from high school, she studied physics at Fu Jen University and then went on to graduate school. After the victory of the War of Resistance, she received an acceptance letter from Stanford University and was preparing to complete her doctoral studies. Her fate began to change.
Wang Guangmei once wrote in her memoirs that children are also very interested in the acquaintance process of their parents, after all, how did a serious person like his father come together with his mother? In fact, everything starts with a "job" before going to the United States. It was 1946, and Wang Guangmei, who was preparing to go abroad, received a task because of his family's relationship, that is, to work as an interpreter for the CPC delegation, and thus became acquainted with Zhou Enlai, Ye Jianying and other central leaders. Later, due to the outbreak of the Kuomintang civil war, she and the delegation came to Yan'an. At a dance, the staff introduced Liu Shaoqi to him. Wang Guangmei had heard the name, but only knew that he was one of the responsible persons of the Central Committee, but his accurate identity could not be said.
Although there was a difference of 23 years between her and Comrade Shaoqi, fate still connected the two people closely. Before getting married, Liu Shaoqi told her very frankly that he was older than her, his work was still busy, and he had children, and if he really chose to be together, I was afraid that there would be many difficulties in life in the future. Wang Guangmei thought to himself, this person is really real, others are boasting, he is good, come up and talk about a bunch of shortcomings first. In fact, she still has a little worry in her heart, but it is not the same as Liu Shaoqi's thoughts, she feels that age is not a problem, mainly in the political level and Liu Shaoqi is far away, and she does not understand his past marriage situation. And what she is most worried about is that she does not know how to get along in the future, whether there is anything that needs attention. For Wang Guangmei's worries, Liu Shaoqi replied one by one. The two finally eliminated all the mustard in their hearts, broke the obstacles, and married.
After marriage, they had a good relationship, Wang Guangmei became a xiannai helper, Liu Shaoqi was too busy with work to take care of the family, and all the things in the family, big and small, were taken care of by herself. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Wang Guangmei, who accompanied her husband and wife, also accompanied Comrade Shaoqi on many visits, and her beautiful and dignified image of an oriental woman left a deep impression on foreign friends.
During the special period, Wang Guangmei was affected by her husband, and she herself was stigmatized and imprisoned for 12 years. It was not until the couple was rehabilitated that they were released from prison. But by then, my husband had been dead for years.
In 1980, at comrade Shaoqi's memorial service, Wang Guangmei's face was gently resting on her husband's urn, a scene that made the eyes of everyone present at the time moist. The saddest thing for her was that during those years, she and her husband had been separated from each other and had not seen each other until they died, which was also the biggest regret in her life. When they met again, she could only hold her husband's ashes in her hands and shed tears. At the memorial service, Wang Guangmei hugged the ashes tightly and did not want to let go of his hand.
