Recently, the movie "Straight Man Chasing Love Manual" broadcast exclusively in iQiyi was directed by Shi Yuan and co-directed by actor Li Yilun. As a well-known Actor of the Spring Festival Gala, Li Yilun co-directed this work for the first time across borders, not only starring in the role in the film in the play, but also taking on heavy responsibilities outside the play, bringing surprises to the audience at the same time, he also gained a lot of experience. Q1: You used to work in an art troupe, but how did you want to change careers to directing?

I came from a school of acting, I love drama very much, so I have been engaged in stage work in the repertory theater, and then because of chance and friends began to shoot advertising and promotional films to shoot micro-films, and gradually felt that drama is the art of the stage, is to use lighting and stage sets to create space, and the film broke through the limitations of the stage, with the picture to truly restore life, show a broader space and thinking, so fell in love with the movie! The motivation for being a director is very simple, the actor is the point, the director is the face, the actor can only express the thoughts and emotions of a single character, and the director needs to experience all the characters, feel the whole plot, and can convey what he wants to express from the overall situation, which is the biggest charm! I stopped performing and started creating!

q2: As your first film, Straight Man, what do you think of Straight Man?

After all, it is the first time to direct a film, there are deficiencies in the professional level of the director, and there are also problems in the rhythm and story of the film, which affect the viewing effect of this film. However, while these problems exist, we can't ignore the efforts of the other excellent team members of this film, and the very hard and effective performances of our four excellent leading actors are a highlight of this film! q3: What are your preferences for the subject matter of the film? What are your thoughts and expectations for the next movie?

In fact, it is quite extensive, suspenseful reasoning, comedy, sci-fi, love, all like. I hope that in the future days, I will first fully improve my professional ability as a director, and hope that I can have the opportunity to participate in the shooting of some films and learn more from experienced predecessors, choose the right time and theme, and then start the next film, sharpen the knife without cutting wood!

Q4: What was your first experience of directing a film?

Learning to perform has injected a lot of inspiration into my life, it makes me good at experiencing and discovering the emotions in life, sublimating and fermenting in the heart, and brewing new thoughts and emotions! Then I started to create, the network movie replacement 1 and 2 are my original story, I don't think this is a simple planning, but with the screenwriter and director in the creation, at the same time I also tried to write a drama script and began to act as a director to put their own works on the stage, until this "Straight Man" I first served as a director to complete the film shooting, the process is very difficult, I encountered a lot of problems that I have not encountered before, I and the members of my team try to solve one by one, this is a rare accumulation of experience! I miss that time very much, after all, this is a new step in my life, and I will continue to work hard in the future!

I hope that the scenery we have seen together will not change, and the enthusiasm that was once there will not dissipate.
