The famous red scholar Yu Pingbo was born in a family of scholars, his great-grandfather was the master of classics Yu Fan, and his father Yu Yiyun edited for the Hanlin Academy. Yu Pingbo grew up in a rich and prosperous family environment, and is a clumsy child who does not want to suffer in the eyes of others. However, under the influence of family culture, Yu Pingbo developed a keen love of reading and became a well-known scholar.
In 1919, Yu Pingbo graduated from Peking University, when the ideological changes triggered by the New Culture Movement were rampant. Many graduates are determined to save the country with culture, and they have embarked on the ship to the west, determined to learn Western knowledge to change the poor and backward China.

In the summer of that year, under the influence of the new wave of democracy and scientific society, Yu Pingbo's classmate Fu Sinian took the Gengzi Reparations Official Fee Study Abroad Program and prepared to continue his studies in Europe.
In the context of the enemy's strength and weakness, Fu Sinian knew the importance of studying abroad, so before going to Europe, he urged Yu Pingbo to go to Europe with him to continue his studies. In 1920, Yu Pingbo, at the instigation of Fu Sinian, finally took a passenger ship and embarked on a voyage to study in the west.

Unexpectedly, more than ten days after arriving in London, Yu Pingbo, a son of the family, decided to give up his study abroad career because he was not used to the life of no one to take care of, and quietly left by boat. Fu Si Nian was shocked to hear the news and hurried to catch up. When Yu Pingbo arrived at the French port of Marseille on a Japanese steamship, Fu Si Nian finally stopped him at the port and dissuaded him. It's just that Yu Pingbo was eager to return to China and finally didn't stay.

Later, yu Pingbo described the scene in his personal memoirs: "There were two people standing on the bow deck of the ship, talking and crying. Pingbo! You are sorry not only for your friends, but also for yourself! ”
This scene is deeply moving and makes Yu Pingbo unforgettable. Until the twilight of his life, Yu Pingbo still wrote affectionately in his diary: "Old Fu chased after the boat and raced horses, weeping and walking, holding hands as if in the present, and the moment will be half a century, the deceased is also a long time." ”

Such friendship with the same window shows That Fu Sinian's sincerity in advising Yu Pingbo to study abroad. It's just that Yu Pingbo has been accustomed to the life of a rich family with clothes to reach out and eat since he was a child, and he has no chance to complete his studies with Fu Sinian. But as a good friend, Fu Si Nian's unshirkable spirit has always been highly respected by the academic community. He was very disappointed that he could not get Yu Pingbo to change his mind. To this end, he wrote a letter to Hu Shi, president of Peking University, to discuss this matter, saying that Yu Ping came to Europe, but I advocated it, and it turned out to be such a result, and I can't say how uncomfortable it was. The Pingbo people are extremely sincere, the most sincere in temperament, and the most intelligent, but they are mistaken for the family, and once they become the "great young master", they will not be able to understand it; and if they mistaken for the Chinese language, once they become 'literati', they will break away from this real world and enter the world of dreams. I asked myself that I was tired of the Chinese language and changed my temperament a little. For example, Pingbo can sigh even longer.
