Since the founding of the Ming Dynasty, the problem of Wukou in the coastal areas has plagued the Ming Dynasty all the time, until the late Jiajing period, Qi Jiguang, Yu Dayu and other famous anti-Wu generals successively pacified the Wukou in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong and other places, so that the suffering of Wukou was calmed. But before Qi Jiguang and others, there was a person who gave Wu Kou a hard blow, and this person was Liu Jiang, a general in the early Ming Dynasty.
Liu Jiang's original name was Liu Rong, Liu Jiang was his father's name, and he went to the war with his father's name, which was quite a bit of the meaning of conscription for his father.
In his early years, he was under the command of Xu Da, the Duke of Wei, and later transferred to the Yan Dynasty, where he was soon appreciated by Zhu Di. In the Battle of Jingnan, he followed Zhu Di on a southern expedition to the northern war and made great achievements.
However, he once flinched in defiance of the order, which made Zhu Di furious and almost beheaded him, and because of this, he received relatively few rewards, but only a dudu.
Subsequently, as a guerrilla general, he followed Zhu Di on his northern expedition against Mengyuan, and then took charge of defending Liaodong. However, because of his own negligence, a group of Wukou sneaked into the Ming army's camp, so angry that Zhu Di almost wanted to behead him, but soon forgave him.
After learning this lesson, Liu Jiang began to carry out the construction of coastal defense in Liaodong Province, and he assessed the situation and built seven beacon towers in Lushunkou, Wanghaikou, Left Eye, Right Eye, Xishazhou, Sanshou Mountain, and Shantou, and sent troops to garrison and wait in strict formation.
Wanghaipu is located in the hinterland of Jinzhou, the terrain is gentle and high, behind which stands a small black mountain, and there is a large monk mountain in the southwest, which can be viewed from the coastal islands.
Below the Wanghai Pass is a golden strip, which at the time was the only road along the coast leading inland.
On the day of June 14, 17th of Yongle, some sentries noticed that there was a fire in the southeast direction, and Liu Jiang anticipated that Wu Kou was about to attack, and immediately made arrangements.
The next day, a group of more than 1,500 Wokou landed on the shore and formed a zigzag of fish, straight into the sea. However, Liu Jiang had already made a complete plan, and by the time Wu Kou entered the fort, there was no one inside.
Wokou became suspicious and wanted to withdraw, but at this moment the artillery fire was fired in unison, and the Ming army ambushed all the troops. Liu Jiang surrounded it on three sides and left it alone, there was a gap in the northwest mouth, and the Wokou saw that they had lost their will to fight, and one desperately ran to the gap, not knowing that Liu Jiang had already sent people to intercept their retreat.
This time the great victory of the Wokou died and fell, and none of them were successfully released. This battle was also the biggest victory won in the early Ming Dynasty against the Wokou, and for more than 300 years, the Wokou did not dare to attack Liaodong again.
