In 1950, the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea broke out, and China sent troops to fight in korea at the request of the DPRK, which was the first time since the founding of our country that we had gone abroad to fight. It was also in this war that the people of the world saw the heroic and fearless spirit of our soldiers and the powerful national strength of our country. In this war, our army fought many classic battles, among which the Battle of Shangganling was a battle in which our army won a great victory, and also won the right to speak for our country in future negotiations. At this time, Chiang Kai-shek, who was far away in Taiwan, saw the Battle of Shangganling and gave a 15-character high evaluation after being shocked. And what was the Battle of Shangganling at that time? Next, let's walk into the Battle of Shangganling together!

After the Second World War, the world pattern was re-evolved, and gradually two camps were formed, one of which was led by the US military and the other led by the Soviet army, because the two sides had many differences in ideology and national system, even antagonisms. In addition, at that time, both North and South Korea wanted to use force to complete the reunification of the country and the nation. At this time, neither the US army nor the Soviet army wanted a direct fierce conflict between the two sides, and in order to maintain its leadership position in Asia, the US military repeatedly tried to cross the Yalu River to invade and occupy China's borders, and used bombers to bomb China's Dandong region. In this way, the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea officially broke out in July 1950. The Battle of Shangganling was part of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.

From October 14 to November 25, 1952, our army and the joint force of more than a dozen countries led by the US army carried out an unprecedented campaign in the Shangganling area. This was a major battle that took place after the breakdown of the first peace talks, when the two sides were at a stalemate with each other, also known as the Battle of the Soul of the Nation. The battle was fought for a total of 43 days. It is mainly vying for control of the villages at the southern foot of Wusheng Mountain in Kim Hoa County, central North Korea, and its vicinity. Although the scale of this war was not large, it also made everyone in the world look at our country with astonishment, and the Western countries and the Soviet army at that time did not think in any way that the country that was only established for one year at that time would fight a war against the US military when the domestic situation had not yet stabilized, all walks of life had not yet recovered, and when the weapons and equipment of the military were backward, they would wage war against the US military. I did not expect that this war would actually be won by our army.
The Five Holy Mountains of North Korea
On October 14, 1952, the enemy led by the Us army gathered a total of more than 60,000 people to attack the two positions occupied by our army with an area of only 3.7 square kilometers, and they also had many heavy weapons, including artillery, tanks, and aircraft. At that time, our army participated in this battle with 9 regiments belonging to two field armies, three infantry divisions and logistics support units transporting supplies, with a total of more than 43,000 people. In addition, the firepower was equipped with two anti-aircraft artillery regiments and 11 battalions. The commanders of our army are Qin Jiwei, Cui Jiangong and Li Desheng. The enemy took part in the battle by the U.S. Ninth Army, 7 regiments of two infantry divisions, and a total of almost 30,000 infantry reinforcements, plus 18 artillery battalions, two tank battalions, and an aviation brigade. The enemy was also much better than our army in terms of materials, at that time the most important weapons used by our army were mountain artillery, field artillery, howitzers, grenades, etc., and the amount of ammunition was still very insufficient, and the enemy's materials and equipment were far higher than our army, during the battle they flew more than 3,000 sorties by aircraft alone, and also had more than 170 tanks, more than 300 artillery pieces, and in this battle, they fired a total of nearly 2 million shells. There were more than 5,000 bombs dropped at high altitudes, and at the height of the war, they fired more than 300,000 shells in a single day. In such a situation where the enemy and ourselves are very disparate in equipment, our army can be said to have exchanged its life for victory in this battle.
The war had just begun, and in an instant the enemy had thousands of guns, and the artillery was constantly firing at our position, and the fire on our position was instantaneous, and the place where the enemy's shells flew was a scorched earth. Many soldiers of our army did not die under the enemy's guns, but were shocked to death by the shock wave of the enemy's shells. In this way, under the very dense artillery fire of the enemy, our army had no way to organize an effective counterattack. Although our army suffered heavy casualties, not a single one flinched. On the contrary, everyone was full of morale, and with the overwhelming attack of the US army, our soldiers could only watch the loss of positions one by one. Many of our soldiers chose to die with the enemy, and they came together with each other, at the same time pulled the grenade in their hands, and ran quickly toward the enemy. After our warriors ran out of ammunition, they took up large knives and spears and engaged the enemy in a white-knife battle. In this battle, there was a soldier named Long Shichang. He was broken by an enemy machine gun, but the sharp pain did not make him fall. With his last strength, he dragged his bleeding leg to crawl on the ground until he reached the enemy's bunker, at which point he picked up the only explosive canister left in his hand and pounced directly on the enemy, and with a loud explosion, the young Long Shichang died with the enemy.
The War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea
At this time, on the battlefield of Shangganling, our army was at a disadvantage, and the US army also occupied most of the positions. After many positions were lost, General Qin Jiwei, commander of our army, hastily changed the plan of operations and decided to give full play to our advantages in night combat, wait until dark to launch a charge against the enemy's positions, and retake our positions from the hands of the enemy. The commander told me that the soldiers of the army shed blood and did not shed tears, and that the situation in the war was very unoptimistic now, so we all had to work together to hold Shangganling.
Battle of Shangganling
When it was dark, our soldiers took advantage of the dark night to launch a fierce attack on the US positions, and at this time the US troops had not yet reacted from the fierce battles during the day, and they were caught off guard by the soldiers of our army, and after the bloody battle of the volunteers, the positions were finally retaken. But at this time, after a fierce battle, the American army had also killed the red eye, and they launched a new round of attack on our army after dawn, and they used all their heavy weapons, aircraft, artillery, and tanks to fight together, at which time a soldier named Huang Jiguang died in this battle for positions.
Huang Jiguang
Huang Jiguang was originally just an ordinary correspondent when his unit was blocked by the strong Fire of the Americans. If they wanted to move on, they had to blow up the bunker, so the company commander sent three groups of demolition teams to blow up the American bunkers. But only to see our warriors rushing towards the enemy's bunker, but before they could take a few steps, they were hit by the machine guns inside the bunker, and fell on the way to blow up the bunker, and the soldiers were somewhat wounded, but still moved towards the bunker with their last strength. They used their bodies as cover only so that the soldiers behind them could better charge forward. In this way, the soldiers of our army fell one by one one after another, and Huang Jiguang knew very well in his heart at this time that if this bunker was not blown up, it would have a drastic impact on the entire battle situation, so at this time he stepped forward, under the cover of his comrades-in-arms, quickly rushed to the enemy's bunker, and threw the grenade in his hand accurately, with a loud noise, the enemy's bunker was finally blown up, but Huang Jiguang was also seriously injured in this operation.
At this time, although the enemy's bunker was destroyed, but the machine guns and enemies inside were still constantly firing crazy strafing at our army, so at this time Huang Jiguang bravely rushed to the machine gun muzzle despite the painful wounds on his body, and used his body to block the enemy's machine gun muzzle, at this time he had only one thought in his mind, that is, to dedicate his last strength to the country, and his comrades-in-arms quickly went forward to eliminate the enemy because Huang Jiguang blocked the machine gun muzzle. After the battle, when the soldiers of our army saw Huang Jiguang's body, everyone's eyes were filled with tears, and at this time, they only saw that the muzzle of the machine gun was still in his body. He was only 21 years old at the time, and he explained to all of us what is called indomitable will.
In this way, our army and the enemy launched a fierce battle for positions, the two sides you attacked and defended, I attacked you defended, repeatedly fought for positions reached 59 times, and our army even repelled the enemy's charge more than 900 times, at the most critical time of the war, our army received weapons support from the Soviet side, the most important of which was the Katyusha rocket artillery, which helped our army turn around the defeat on the battlefield, and the Katyusha rocket artillery they sent us also fully compensated for the disadvantage of our army in firepower. In the end, our army used the Katyusha rocket artillery, which also made the enemy feel the overwhelming artillery fire, and beat the enemy to nowhere to hide. It was under such circumstances that our army gradually began to gain an advantage on the battlefield, and slowly the officers and men of our army became more and more courageous and fierce, and their morale was high. The battle ended on 25 November, and the two sides fought for a total of 43 days, and our army finally won the victory.
Chiang Kai-shek
After the end of this battle, chiang kai-shek, who was far away in Taiwan at the time, heard the news of the defeat of the US army in Shangganling, and his heart was very complicated, and the US army made fun of him for having such good equipment but always losing the battle. But what can you do now? Not only did they lose, but the combined armies of more than a dozen countries were beaten so badly. Chiang Kai-shek even gave a 15-word high evaluation in addition to the shock, no one in this world is an opponent of the People's Liberation Army. Sure enough, in the end, our army won the victory in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.
Majestic and exuberant, across the Yalu River! The US military has always been "respectful" to our Platon Army, not without reason! Many foreigners can't understand why these people can go beyond the limits of their physiology and create miracles that are almost impossible, and I think that people who may have a hard time standing up are not willing to kneel down again in any case. This is an awakening of national self-esteem, a national consciousness that can sacrifice any personal interest, even an individual's life, for the sake of the national interest. May this spirit always exist in the collective consciousness of the Chinese, at the expense of the individual for the sake of the collective interest, and in the interest of the nation. Today's life is not easy to come by, and our descendants should remember it in their hearts, always remind themselves, do not forget the national shame, and revitalize China.
