Remember Qu Wanting, who became famous with an original song "In My Song"?
Qu Wanting, born in October 1983 in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, is a female pop singer and songwriter Chinese mainland. She was known by mainland fans from 2009. That year, one of her English songs, "Drenched", became the theme song of the movie "Chun Jiao and ZhiMing". Then one of her songs, "In My Song", became popular all over the country. Qu Wanting's name became a household name for a time. Qu Wanting, who took off in her career, joined Universal Music in 2012 and appeared on CCTV Spring Festival Gala in 2013. Since then, it has faded from the mainland entertainment circle. Until October 2017, Qu Wanting made a comeback. But there was no splash and it disappeared completely.
Today I want to talk about qu Wanting, but her mother Zhang Mingjie.
According to the data, Zhang Mingjie was the deputy director of the Harbin Municipal Development and Reform Commission and the director of the Office of the Municipal Leading Group for Urbanization Construction. In July 2016, Qu Wanting's mother, Zhang Mingjie, was charged with embezzlement, bribery, and abuse of power and accepted a public trial by the Harbin Intermediate People's Court. However, due to the flight of key witnesses to Canada, Zhang Mingjie's case has not been conclusive.
On September 27, 2020, the website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection said in its comment on Zhang Mingjie's case: Overseas is not a paradise for asset transfer. It can be seen from this that although the zhang mingjie case has not been pronounced, it has been nailed down, and what needs to be further investigated and implemented may only be the specific details of the case.
On October 7, according to the website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the State Supervision Commission, Wei Qi, a "red notice official" who had been on the run for seven years and a suspect in the line of duty, returned to China and surrendered. This person was a key witness in Zhang Mingjie's case. According to official reports at the time, Wei Qi, a private owner in Harbin, fled in September 2014 on suspicion of paying bribes to state workers. In March 2016, Interpol issued a Red Notice against Wei Qi.
With Wei Qi's arrest, Qu Wanting's mother's case will usher in a grand finale. On July 1, 2017, Qu Wanting posted on Weibo that her mother's case had not yet been pronounced and that she had confidence in Chinese law. The words revealed her firm belief in her mother's innocence. But now it seems that Qu Wanting's good wishes are probably going to fail.
Speaking of Qu Wanting, she has been living in Canada since she disappeared in China. Around 2015, there were online scandals between her and Vancouver Mayor Luo Pinxin. In response, Qu Wanting posted a Weibo response, confirming that the two were indeed in a relationship, and the two sides confirmed their relationship at the end of 2014. Two years later, Qu Wanting and her boyfriend peacefully broke up.
