What does the "Dove's Revelation" Skinner experiment tell us?

The famous psychologist Skinner once did an experiment in which he fed 8 pigeons in a cage, and in order to enhance the motivation to find food, he starved the pigeons for several days before the test, and then fed them in the cage with a food dispenser, and the dispenser was set to distribute food every 5 minutes, that is, no matter what the pigeons did, they would receive a reward every 5 minutes.

What does the "Dove's Revelation" Skinner experiment tell us?

The results of the experiment were unexpected, with 6 of the 8 pigeons producing very pronounced reactions: one pigeon constantly circled the cage; the other repeatedly slammed its head into a corner of the cage; the third showed an upward reaction, as if placing its head under an invisible pole and lifting it repeatedly; two pigeons with their heads and bodies in a rocking motion; and one pigeon formed an incomplete pecking or lightly touching conditioned reaction, and the pigeons seemed to think that they could get food if they repeated a certain movement.

What does the "Dove's Revelation" Skinner experiment tell us?

This example simply summarizes the "superstitious" mistakes that humans often make: in fact, we often play the role of pigeons in our lives, especially in pigeon racing: many people choose breeding pigeons in the race, looking for a large pedigree for high prize money, in order to find the law of winning prizes, we have created various theories (pedigree, training, breeding, etc.), once successful several times, we are rewarded, which will make us more convinced that the theory is correct. But the problem is that we can't get rewards every time. There is a certain element of luck!

So, although there are all kinds of sayings in the pigeon racing world, what we need is a down-to-earth mentality – to do our part and wait for Providence to come. The good must be happy, the bad must be accepted, and that's it!
