From October to December 2021, the Shanghai Burlesque Troupe will present these three original realistic works to Shanghai audiences, performing on the People's Grand Stage, the Shanghai Grand Theatre and the Tiantou Yifu Stage for a total of 17 performances for half a year. There are laughter, tears, collisions, and resonances, and this exhibition is expected to let more citizens approach funny, understand funny, fall in love with funny, let the citizens of Shencheng Relive the hundred-year process of funny art, and feel the unique charm of this "sea wonder".
The original burlesque play "The Emperor Is Not anxious Eunuch" is set in Shanghai's "net red classic" People's Park Blind Date Corner, the story starts from a pair of elderly parents eager to find a partner for their children, triggering a series of misunderstandings, coincidences, contradictions and dislocations, understanding the gap between the two generations of marriage and love in laughter, and feeling the well-intentionedness of the elderly in tears. Lead actor Qian Cheng won the Protagonist Award at the 28th Shanghai Magnolia Drama Performing Arts Award for his role as "Teacher Zhang". At the same time, the play was also selected as a support project for the Ministry of Culture's Opera Script Incubation Program, a project funded by the Shanghai Cultural Development Foundation, and a key topic for the creation of shanghai stage art masterpieces in 2017.
