"You are a beam of light that illuminates the depths of the cave and guides the way forward; you are a drill, turning the unknown into knowledge, and showing the grandeur of the country." The sky is high and the earth is breaking through the dangerous tunnel, and the new problem is out of the right way! At the commendation meeting of China Railway Construction Co., Ltd. in 2019, the award speech described Li Guoliang in this way. As a senior expert who has been committed to tunnel engineering design for more than 30 years, he has left a persistent footprint in front of the rolling mountains and mountains, the cold and oxygen-deficient Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and the high slopes of loess with long ravines, and the western railway tunnels such as Wusheling Tunnel, West Qinling Tunnel, and Xinguanjiao Tunnel have condensed his wisdom and sweat.
Don't be afraid of hardship and build a solid foundation
In 1988, after graduating from Lanzhou Railway College, Li Guoliang came to work in the bridge and tunnel department of TieyiYuan. Starting from the grassroots apprenticeship, he laid a deep professional foundation step by step. Li Guoliang said: "At that time, the wind and dust were dusty all day long, although it was hard, but the knowledge learned was very solid. ”
Design is the source of engineering construction, and it is very important to lay a solid foundation. Li Guoliang remembers the year when he first went to work, due to the competitiveness, the normal small work point had to complete the construction drawings in a week, but he worked overtime and rushed out in two or three days. When it came to acceptance, the master pointed out many small mistakes and taught him in a serious tone: "The design work is not sloppy at all, and every stroke and painting must be neat and careful." "Since then, I have corrected my attitude, not only in everything seriously, but sometimes even a little more truthful, and do everything possible to control the quality from the source." Li Guoliang said.
Over the years, Li Guoliang has always been in-depth in the front line of the project to guide and solve problems, with an average annual travel of more than 7 months, and people around him have evaluated him with "diligence, courage to shoulder heavy burdens, dedication and dedication, pioneering and innovative". Since his career, he has presided over dozens of complex geological tunnel engineering designs such as The Zhengxi High-speed Railway Loess Tunnel, the First Soft-Flow Plastic Loess Tunnel, the First Soft Plastic Loess Tunnel, the First Plateau Alpine High-speed Railway Tunnel Group- Lanzhou-Xinzhou High-speed Railway Tunnel Group, and served as the chief engineer of the design of domestic long tunnels such as the Wusheling Tunnel, the West Qinling Tunnel, and the Xinguanjiao Tunnel; he was responsible for the research and design of the high-rock temperature tunnel group in the Brahmaputra Gorge area of the Lari Railway, and the extremely complex long tunnel group of the Xicheng Railway. Cracked one world-class technical problem after another, and ensured the smooth implementation of key projects with first-class design.
Overcome the dangers and cross the mountains
Heavy mountains and mountains, one tunnel is passable. The rivers are blocked and passed by. "Graben" is a flexible way, which is the mission and value of "tunnel people".
Talking about the most memorable tunnel in his tunnel design career, Li Guoliang blurted out: "Wusheling Tunnel!" As Chief Design Engineer, Li Guoliang presided over the design of China's first tunnel with a length of more than 20 kilometers. In view of the rare F7 active faults and the extremely serious soft rock deformation of the ridge section of 1.2 meters at home and abroad, he developed the supporting structure system and deformation grading management benchmark for deformation control, and finally won the special prize for scientific and technological progress of the China Railway Society.
"The breakthrough of the Wusheling Tunnel can be said to be a milestone in the history of China's railway tunnel construction." He said. The Wusheling Tunnel brings the design concept of "long tunnel and short hit" to the extreme, which greatly shortens the construction period.
The total length of the Wusheling Tunnel is 20.5 kilometers, the geological conditions along the line are complex, and the scale of the project is huge, which has aroused the attention of the tunnel community at home and abroad. The construction staff even vividly praised this place as a "geological museum". The tunnel group is located at the intersection of the Inner Mongolia Plateau, the Loess Plateau and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and its geological structure development, engineering geology and hydrogeological conditions are complex, and the altitude is high, the temperature difference between day and night is large, and the construction is difficult, And Li Guoliang still remembers it vividly.
Wusheling Tunnel can be called one of the landmark projects of China's railway development, which has good guiding significance for the design and construction of China's railway long tunnels; the completion of Wusheling Tunnel has completely broken the bottleneck affecting Lanxin railway transportation, and played an important role in developing and improving the overall transportation capacity of the northwest road network.
The railway that put the most pressure on Li Guoliang was the Lanzhou-Chongqing Railway. The Lanzhou-Chongqing Railway was the most complex high-standard mountain railway under construction at home and abroad at that time, and the water-rich fine sand tunnel represented by the tunnels such as Taoshuping and Flax Ridge was recognized as a rare worldwide problem.
For this worldwide problem, the Tieyi Academy has set up a working group with Li Guoliang as the leader, invited domestic and foreign experts to the scene for many times to conduct research and guidance, and organized relevant professional and technical backbones to carry out in-depth cooperation with scientific research institutes, focusing on the hydrogeological conditions of the third series of sandstone and the stability relationship of surrounding rock, process construction methods and other key technologies for special research and scientific research.

Through continuous experiments and research, the working group has fully grasped the basic engineering characteristics of the third series of silphiphilic fine sandstones, the changes in the moisture content of the surrounding rock and the changes in the stability of the surrounding rocks, and on this basis has made a series of major technological breakthroughs, determined the design principles and construction schemes of "heavy precipitation, dense conduits, strong support, auxiliary grouting, fast digging, fast support and fast closure", formed a set of key technologies for the design and construction of the system, and provided solid technical support for the construction of the project.
There is a bigger "roadblock" in the construction of the Lanzhou-Chongqing Railway, that is, the Muzhailing Tunnel. This tunnel refreshes the limit of China's ground stress level and is the only tunnel project with dynamic design and dynamic construction on the entire line of Lanzhou-Chongqing Railway. "Now, the Muzhailing Tunnel, which can be crossed by trains in just 6 minutes, has been under construction for nearly 9 years." Li Guoliang said.
According to statistics, the excavation section of the ridge section of the Muzhailing Tunnel is 2 times that of the ordinary tunnel, the amount of steel used is 5 times that of the ordinary tunnel, up to 10 tons per meter, and the steel strength reaches the limit; and the shape of the tunnel is also changed from the initial horseshoe shape to a circle in order to better withstand the force and ensure the stability of the tunnel structure. In the process of technical research, Li Guoliang and his team explored and designed the "Muzhailing Model" with three layers of initial support and single-layer lining.
In the construction process of the Xinguanjiao Tunnel of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, Li Guoliang's long inclined shaft partition wind channel ventilation, disaster prevention and rescue and operational ventilation technology developed by Li Guoliang for the problems of alpine cold and lack of oxygen and extremely complex geological conditions have reached the international leading level after review. A number of innovative technologies researched and applied in the construction not only solve the technical problems in the construction, but also cultivate talents in practice, so that the survey and design, construction, supervision and construction management of China's long tunnels have made great progress.
The Xinguanjiao Tunnel has become a "ladder that can be crossed" on the Qinghai-Tibet Railway. Its penetration has condensed the sweat of countless railway people, and in the face of world-class technical problems, Li Guoliang used his shoulders to support the dream of building a "world-class plateau railway".
Write books and make speeches, preach and solve puzzles
As a scientific and technological worker, Li Guoliang has paid great attention to the role of passing on and helping for many years. He has always been committed to technology inheritance and innovation, and has cultivated and driven a group of influential young and middle-aged experts in tunneling in the industry. Over the years, he has edited a number of industry specifications such as "Technical Specifications for Railway Loess Tunnels" and "Technical Specifications for Railway Extrusion Surrounding Rock Tunnels", obtained more than 10 invention patents, published more than 20 monographs and papers, won 3 second prizes of national scientific and technological progress, and more than 10 provincial and ministerial excellent engineering design and scientific and technological progress awards. At the same time, he has also won the Mao Yisheng Science and Technology Award, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security "Young and Middle-Aged Experts with Outstanding Contributions" and other honors, and was selected into the National Million Talents Project. "Young people must have the determination and lofty pursuit of entrepreneurship." Li Guoliang often encouraged young comrades in this way, and he has always demanded this of himself. He measured the steel artery with his footsteps and practiced the original mission of a scientific and technological worker to dedicate himself to a transportation power.
