His wife, Wang Manxia, was a particularly important red high-ranking agent for Zhou Enlai, but Chen Erjin's public identity at the time was that of the deputy commander of the Fourth Corps of the Kuomintang Ministry of National Defense, under the influence of his wife Wang Manxia. Chen Erjin joined the Chinese Communist Party and continued to lurk by Chiang Kai-shek's side.
Because the husband and wife have superior courage and clever minds, they are deeply loved by Zhou Enlai. However, in this chaotic revolutionary era, their revolutionary road was very bumpy, and they all sacrificed their precious lives for the liberation of Shanghai, for the future of New China, and for the cause of communism.
(1) Chen Erjin and Wang Manxia's family background and experience
Chen Erjin, a native of Taiyuan, Shanxi, was born in 1911 into a bureaucratic family of prominent families. Although he was born in a chaotic world, he aspired to dingguo Anbang, and at the age of 18, he went to Guangzhou alone and was admitted to the Whampoa Military Academy. Chen Erjin reported that he was specializing in artillery, and later he went to the aviation reconnaissance class to study, seriously studied artillery and air reconnaissance, and quickly mastered the difficult techniques of liaison, detection, and aviation testing.
After completing his studies, Chen Erjin was sent to Xi'an to work as an instructor at the Northwest Branch of the Central Military Academy. He taught a student named Jiang Weiguo, who was Chiang Kai-shek's second son, and Jiang Weiguo admired this teacher very much and introduced him to his father. Because Chen Erjin was a highly qualified student at the Whampoa Military Academy and had very close relations with Chiang Weiguo, Chiang Kai-shek admired Chen Erjin very much, transferred him to Nanjing, and appointed him as the captain of the gendarmerie of the Presidential Palace as an attendant to protect Chiang Kai-shek.
Wang Manxia was born in 1913 in Anhui to a wealthy merchant family and was a big girl. Since he was a child, he left home to study at Beijing Women's Normal University, and because he received a good ideological education at an early age, he went to Shanghai, Nanjing, Xi'an, Changsha and other places to participate in the student movement under the influence of progressive ideas in Beijing. She joined the Communist Party of China in 1936 and became a senior red female agent under Zhou Enlai.
(2) The love story of Chen Erjin and Wang Manxia
The love between Chen Erjin and Wang Manxia is indispensable to Zhou Enlai's connection. Zhou Enlai had already heard a little about Chen Erjin and had secretly observed him for a while. Chen Erjin participated in the Defense of Nanjing in 1937, the Battle of Taierzhuang in 1938, and the Defense of Wuhan in June of the same year.
Zhou Enlai was very optimistic about the young officer, and wanted to draw him into the ranks of the Communists, so he pinned his hopes on Wang Manxia, a communist, hoping that she could break into the Kuomintang. Therefore, the Communists sent Wang Manxia to Changsha to meet with Zhou Enlai, and when they met, Zhou Enlai handed Chen Erjin's file bag to Wang Manxia and said, "This is Chen Erjin, a student of the eighth term of Huangpu, who is deeply appreciated by Chiang Kai-shek, and you must have a good relationship with him." And he is a handsome young officer, and you can fall in love with him, but you must love him in the camp of our Communist Party. ”
After receiving the order, Wang Manxia went to Changsha to carry out work and infiltrated the Kuomintang through various connections. At the ball of the Kuomintang Officers' Club, Chen Erjin and Wang Manxia fell in love at first sight that night, and through the exchanges at the ball, both of them left a deep impression on each other. Later, after half a year of frequent getting along, the two were inseparable and had established a deep relationship. Wang Manxia reported the situation of the two to the organization and asked the organization to approve her marriage to Chen Erjin, and the party organization immediately held a close conversation and approved the marriage. At this time, Chen Erjin did not know that Wang Manli was a Communist Party member.
(3) After marriage, Chen Erjin found that his wife behaved strangely
On March 27, 1938, Chen Erjin and Wang Manxia married in Changsha, which caused a sensation in the entire high society.
After marriage, Wang Manxia often went out alone and did not go home until late at night, and Chen Erjin became suspicious.
The next day, As usual, Wang Manxia went out shopping and playing mahjong alone, and did not return until midnight. So Chen Erjin sent someone to secretly follow Wang Manxia, but every time he would be dumped by Wang Manxia, Chen Erjin wondered: "The people who follow Wang Manxia are all professionally trained, how can she get rid of them as a big girl?"
Chen Erjin pretended to be unwell and said that he wanted to go to the room to rest for a while, and his wife said that she was going to play mahjong, and when she finished, she went out. Chen Erjin then quietly followed his wife, until he stopped in front of a bungalow, he followed behind and observed for a long time, the room has been crowded, but did not see his wife Wang Manxia come out, until one o'clock in the morning did he see his wife carefully come out of the back door, and observed the surroundings, and called a tricycle at the next intersection to return home. At this time, Chen Erjin had already determined his inner thoughts, and his wife was an underground party member.

(4) Wang Manxia's communist identity was exposed
Chen Erjin, who returned home, directly questioned his wife, and Wang Manxia was stunned for a moment, seeing that the matter could not be hidden, so he took out a copy of the "Communist Manifesto" from the dark grid of the cabinet and handed it to Chen Erjin, Wang Manxia said that you don't have to take a stand first, let him study and understand it carefully. Later, Wang Manxia often gave her husband some red books, and Wang Manxia found that her husband loved these books, often reading until late at night, and Wang Manxia also continued to subtly transmit the ideas of the Communist Party to Chen Erjin.
Wang Manxia felt that the time was right, confessed everything to her husband, and invited him to join the Communist Party.
Although Chen Erjin was a person close to Chiang Kai-shek, after he had contact with communist ideas, he admired the Communist Party very much, believing that the Communist Party was the real salvation of the country and should not be an enemy of the Communist Party, so he agreed to join Wang Manxia in the cause of communism.
Chen Erjin was persuaded by Wang Manxia to join the Communist Party mainly because he had already seen through the corruption of the Kuomintang officialdom over the years.
(5) Chen Erjin was persuaded by his wife to successfully join the Communist Party
So Wang Manxia reported the matter to her superiors, and the organization was pleasantly surprised when she learned of the news. In 1938, Zhou Enlai invited Chen Erjin and his wife to hold secret talks in Wuhan, and in 1939, Chen Erjin officially joined the Communist Party of China.
Chen Erjin used the opportunity at Chiang Kai-shek's side to create conditions for the smooth development of underground party work, and Chen Erjin is now a sharp sword that the Communist Party has planted in the Kuomintang.
At this time, it was a difficult period of the War of Resistance, and Chen Erjin immediately threw himself into the battle to defend his family and defend the country. Soon after, Chen Erjin was transferred to his side by Chiang Kai-shek, and at this time Chen Erjin's identity was already very critical, and he had to be more cautious around Chiang Kai-shek.
In 1940, Changsha was bombed by the Japanese army, our army was seriously damaged, hundreds of people were buried in the sea of fire, homeless, Chen Erjin, who was appointed as the captain of the brigade, immediately reported to his superiors after seeing such a tragic situation, and asked to go to the front line to personally command the battle, but there has been no response.
(6) Chen Erjin led his troops to fight away the enemy
Due to the urgency of the situation, the Japanese planes appeared in the sky again, only to hear Chen Erjin shouting: "Will be outside, military orders are not accepted!" Brethren, follow me! He personally led the artillery forward and fired a strafing at the Japanese aircraft. Under his precise command, our army shot down a total of 4 Japanese aircraft, one of which was personally shot down by Chen Erjin, and the enemy suffered heavy casualties, and everyone called Chen Erjin a "sharp gunner."
The victory in this battle greatly boosted the morale of the soldiers, and Chen Erjin, who was a communist, also made great contributions in this war and became a person highly valued by the Kuomintang.
In 1941, the "Anhui Southern Incident" broke out, the revolution was not yet over, and the Kuomintang completely exposed its reactionary nature. The revolutionary struggle led by the CCP is also in a difficult period. Chen Erjin asked his fourth brother Chen Erzhen to come to Yan'an to join the Chinese Communist Party to participate in the battle, and the fourth brother Chen Erzhen immediately went to Yan'an to join his brother in the revolutionary cause after receiving the news.
Under the influence of his elder brother Chen Erjin, the fourth brother also became as brave and fearless as his brother and withstood the test of the revolution.
Chen Erjinyi unrepentantly introduced the fourth brother Chen Erzhen into the ranks of the Communist Party of China to support the revolutionary struggle and fully supported his brother to participate in the battle in Yan'an, the holy land of revolution. The fourth brother, Chen Erzhen, lived up to his brother's expectations and withstood the test and tempering of the revolution.
After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Chen Erjin and his wife returned to their home in Shanghai, which is also where they worked for the revolutionary cause, at No. 17, Lane 107, Huangdu Road, Hongkou.
(7) Traitors appeared in the party, and Chen Erjin and his wife were arrested
In 1949, in order to peacefully liberate Shanghai, Chen Erjin became deputy commander and chief of staff of the Fourth Corps of the Kuomintang Ministry of National Defense. He was instructed by the party to plot an uprising against the Kuomintang garrison in Shanghai. Under the party's many deliberations, a set of strict countermeasures was formed, which was unanimously affirmed by Chen Yi and Su Yu of the upper command of the CPC. The organization was preparing to send Mo Xiangchuan, an underground member of our party, to participate in the operation, and the plan of rebellion was being carried out meticulously, and in early May 1949, at this important moment, an accident occurred, and traitors appeared in the underground party of the CCP.
The traitors betrayed all of Chen Erjin's plans to Mao Sen, the chief of police, Mao Sen, the head of the military command agent, who was very vicious and had the blood of countless innocent people on his hands.
Immediately after, on May 9, the agents of the Japanese military command began to arrest underground party members, and successively took away Wang Manxia and Mo Xiangchuan, along with Wang Manxia's 11-month-old child Chen Guanning and his mother.
After Chen Erjin learned of the news, more than 40 underground parties had been arrested, and he immediately transferred the team to the dock workers' residential area and hid in the home of a guard. After the enemy knew this, he went to the dock to prepare to surround Chen Erjin, the enemy shouted outside: "If you don't surrender, blow up the house", Chen Erjin was afraid of hurting the innocent brothers of workers, known as the sharpshooter, he threw out his double gun and walked out with his head held high, because these workers were innocent, and Chen Erjin did not want to involve them because of himself.
When the underground party learned of the news, it sent forces to rescue him, and Mawson was forced by outside pressure to release his 11-month-old child and nurse. Before leaving, Wang Manxia hugged her child Chen Guanning and said: "Child, you go out first, and when Shanghai is liberated, you will take the red flag to greet your parents and fathers." ”
(8) Chen Erjin and his wife were killed without confessing, and Lao Jiang ordered the execution of the shooting
In prison, Mao Sen was ordered by Chiang Kai-shek to interrogate Chen Erjin and his wife. They tortured Wang Manxia and Chen Erjin, who were pregnant in June, and they also let Chen Erjin go as bait by confessing, wanting Wang Manxia to relax, and Wang Manxia said to Mao Sen: "Only by letting go of all the revolutionary volunteers can you alleviate your sins, otherwise, you will not want to escape the punishment of the people, and the blood debt must be repaid with blood." After the Kuomintang interrogation was inconclusive, it finally ordered the shooting of the two men.
On May 19, 1949, Chen Erjin, Wang Manxia, Mo Xiangchuan and 16 other Communist Party members were sent to Shanghai Song Park for execution. They did not have the slightest timidity in the face of the enemy's guns, and Chen Erjin and his wife regarded death as if they were returning home, and together they shouted "Long live the Communist Party of China!" Long live New China! With the sound of gunfire, they fell again and again, and got up again and again. Zhabei Song Park was stained red by the blood of these martyrs.
Chen Erjin was only 38 years old when he died, and his wife Wang Manxia was 36 years old.
On June 5, 1949, the loyal bones of Chen Erjin and Wang Manxia were buried in Hongqiao Cemetery and later moved to Longhua Martyrs Cemetery.
