From the northeast dialect of the Hubei factory building in "Hello, Li Huanying": the memory of "three-line construction" carved deep in the mountains

author:Red Star News

At noon on February 20, the official Weibo of the movie "Hello, Li Huanying" released a dynamic that its box office had exceeded 3.6 billion. According to industry analysts, according to the current box office momentum, it is expected that the total box office of the film is expected to exceed 5 billion yuan.

The movie "Hello, Li Huanying" is based on the true story of Jia Ling's mother. Jia Ling is a native of Hubei Province, and the story takes place in Yicheng County (now Yicheng City) in Xiangyang City, Hubei Province, but the characters in the film are mostly Northeastern accents, which has caused many people to wonder. However, in fact, this seemingly "contradictory" detail is not a bug that appears deliberately to create a "comedic effect". Behind it, it carries a magnificent history.

In the 1960s, the Party Central Committee made a major strategic decision to carry out the construction of the third line. This is a strategic measure with far-reaching impact in the history of China's economic and social development. According to the data, the third-line construction has gone through three "five-year plans" and invested 205.2 billion yuan, accounting for 39% of the total investment in national infrastructure construction in the same period. At the peak of the investment of manpower, more than 4 million yuan was invested, and 1,100 construction projects were arranged, which can be called the most important strategic deployment in the history of the construction of the People's Republic of China, realizing the promotion of the layout of productive forces to the west, having a far-reaching impact on the structure and layout of the national economy, and making positive contributions to the development of the western region.

"In those years, in the vast black land, trains full of coal, steel, oil, equipment, timber, grain and other scarce materials drove to all parts of the country, and groups of northeast elites left their hometowns without hesitation. They traveled thousands of miles to the third-tier areas, left their hometowns, and landed in other places. As a director of the China Third-Line Construction Research Association, The 50-year-old Deng Long recalled to Red Star News the years at that time with great affection.

Deng Long

In 1970, Deng Long was born in a third-line military factory in the mountains of northwestern Hubei. He is a standard third-line child, and his parents are factory workers. After living, studying and working in the factory for more than 30 years, Deng Long and his fathers have experienced the ebb and flow of the tide, watching a generation grow and a generation grow old. Since 2015, Deng Long has created the WeChat public account "Third-line Memory", formed the "Hubei Military Homeland" and "Third-line Military Homeland" WeChat groups, and sorted out and written hundreds of memoirs and research articles on the construction of the third line.

Deng Long told Red Star News that for historical reasons, "three-line construction" was once a mysterious term, which was not in the news until the late 1980s and is not known to most people today. On the surface, the employees of the third-line factories may not be much different from the local residents, but only they know that deep down, there are many precious memories worth remembering for a lifetime. "As a third-line child, there is always a kind of third-line complex, and if you discard these things you have experienced, you are ashamed of the hard work you have paid to your fathers." he said.

The following is Deng Long's self-description of the third-line memory.

Northeast dialect has become the "official language" of the second automobile plant

The third-line factory where I am located is located in the mountains of northwest Hubei and belongs to the remnants of the Wudang Mountains of the Qinba Mountains. Entering the factory must pass through a tunnel of two or three hundred meters long, and when you walk out of the tunnel, you will suddenly feel open in front of you, surrounded by mountains and forests, and a modern factory lies quietly in a large ravine. The Xiangyu Railway passes outside the factory area and has a special railway line.

The tunnel that must be passed through to enter the factory area

My hometown is in Zaoyang City, Hubei Province, and my father was assigned to the factory after graduating from university in 1969. At that time, the country was divided into one, two and three lines, including 13 provinces and autonomous regions in the central and western regions, and for strategic needs, the state relocated important military production along the coast and along the border and important enterprises related to the national economy and people's livelihood to the third-line areas, which is called "three-line construction" in history.

After the release of the movie "Hello, Li Huanying", I also went to the cinema to see it, and the prototype of the Shengli Chemical Factory in the film was the Oriental Chemical Factory (Factory 525), which was built by the Qingyang Chemical Factory (Factory 375) in Liaoning Province, and the 805 Factory, 845 Factory and The 255 Factory assisted in the construction. In the movie, not only the Northeast dialect, but also the performance of the duo turn reflects the elements of Northeast culture.

Although the film only tells the past of Jia Ling's mother when she was young, it also reflects the youth of the third-line builders from all over the country in that era. At that time, groups of northeasterners left their hometowns without hesitation, traveled thousands of miles, and rushed to the third-tier areas.

Once a "third-line disciple"

Among the third-line projects, the most famous one is the Changchun First Automobile Manufacturing Plant to assist in the construction of the Second Automobile Manufacturing Plant in Shiyan, Hubei Province. In 1952, Chairman Mao proposed that "China is so big, it is not enough for one FAW, and it is necessary to build a second automobile factory." In 1964, when Chairman Mao proposed the construction of the third line, he once again mentioned that the second automobile was a key project in the construction of the third line. In September 1969, the focus of the site selection of the Second Automobile Was shifted from Xiangxi in Hunan to the northwest region of Hubei, and was finally determined by Premier Zhou in the Shiyan area of YunXian County, Hubei Province.

At that time, the Second Automobile Construction Plant determined that (Changchun) FAW Would build 11 branches, Shanghai would build 6 branches, and Beijing and Wuhan would each build one branch plant. Therefore, the northeast dialect could be heard everywhere in the small Shiyan ravine, and over time, the northeast dialect became the "official language" of the second automobile plant, and even today, the Northeast dialect is still everywhere in dongfeng company.

The complete "small society" in the mountains

In fact, it's not just Northeasterners. In that year, in response to the call for the construction of the third line of the central government, the elites of all walks of life bid farewell to their homeland and invested in the construction of the third line.

At that time, the formulation was "elite soldiers and strong generals on the third line" and "good people are good and immediately three lines". Our fathers, fighting in the desolate ravines of western Hubei, with blood and sweat, relying on diligence and wisdom, left us with modern factories in the mountains.

Compared with the first-tier cities, our position is in the hidden "third line", which seems mysterious and unpredictable; and in the envious eyes cast from the society, a sense of pride and pride arises spontaneously. We are glorious third-line children, in terms of household registration, we belong to the city; but from the geographical environment, we are veritable "village people".

Those three-line factory living areas in the mountains

If you study the third-line factory carefully, you will find some regular things. Third-tier enterprises are basically the same in terms of topography, architectural style, building materials and factory layout: the production areas are all pure cement brick gray ridge tiles, which can withstand seven-magnitude earthquakes; the living areas are four or five floors made of red bricks, embedded in ravines.

The factory headquarters, production areas, and living areas are distributed in different ravines, and there is an independent set of command, production, and logistics systems, including organs, workshops, hospitals, canteens, schools (kindergartens, primary schools, junior high schools), motorcades, fire protection, public security, theaters, guest houses, etc., to get rid of a complete "small society."

I remember that every morning, the sound of the military trumpet of getting up sounded in the factory area through the radio, and people opened their eyes in the sound of the broadcast. The adults' day-long rush begins at this moment, carrying baskets to the vegetable market not far away to buy vegetables, bringing back breakfast by the way, and then waking up the children from school. Then, our children walked into the children's school in groups of three or five, and the adults rushed to their respective posts.

The most tense Spring Festival in memory

At that time, the third-line workers had to participate in the training class before entering the factory, and the first task was to study the "Code of Secrecy", which everyone who had experienced the life of the third-line military factory believed that they had deeply understood.

At that time, all factories involved in military manufacturing had a factory name, a code name and an email number. One is external, called "Agricultural Machinery Factory", "Tool Factory", "Chemical Factory", "Weidong Factory", "Qianjin Factory", "Hongqi Factory", etc., these enterprise names all carry the characteristics of the times; one is internal, in the military system, the work cards of the workers of the third-line factory are only written code names.

I remember that on the eve of the Spring Festival in 1979, the factory was preparing for a holiday, and suddenly received the military production task issued by the General Logistics Department. Subsequently, the military wagons were parked on the railway special line outside the factory area, and the products that had not yet dried the paint had just come down from the assembly line, and they were immediately transferred to the military yard outside the cave, loaded with wagons and transported away.

On the day of the Chinese New Year's Eve, with the approval of the military deputies suggested by the party committee of the factory, the staff and workers of the whole factory only went home for the holiday at noon to eat a reunion dinner, and at 1:30 p.m., they hurried to the workshop to continue their work. In my impression, it was the most tense Spring Festival, and we half-grown children were not idle, taking care of our younger siblings at home and doing some housework within our reach.

Although there was no holiday during the Spring Festival that year, the factory successfully completed the production task, guaranteed the demand for combat materials for the troops, and was commended by the chief of the general rear. Because the secrecy work was done very well that year, everyone learned through newspaper broadcasts afterwards that the military products produced overtime in our factory were also on the front line.

In the early 1980s, in time for the troops to change their uniforms, the factory received a large number of military production tasks, and the mother's workshop was very busy. Two shifts is a common occurrence, catching up with overtime, and we still have to deliver food to the factory. Taking advantage of the break between my mother's meals, I learned to help my mother work, when the equipment was semi-mechanized, the safety factor was high, and many children who delivered meals like me helped the adults to work like this, until the workshop dispatch patrol came, and then sneaked out of the workshop with an empty lunch box.

The third-line complex of the third-line person

At the end of 1983, by the decision of the Party Central Committee, the State Council issued the "Circular on the Implementation of the Three-Line Adjustment Issue", which made a major policy of "protecting the army and turning the people" and "adjusting and transforming and playing a role" for the third-line factories, and clarified the three-line adjustment policy of "shutting down, stopping, merging, transferring, and relocating".

In 2014, after becoming a special clerk of "Third Line Construction", I became more and more aware of the importance of third line construction, and actively participated in many interview activities of third line factories, which has been inseparable from third line construction since then.

Since then, I have visited many third-line construction plants across the country, interviewed many old people who participated in the third-line construction at that time, including factory leaders, middle-level cadres, and ordinary workshop workers, and sorted out and written hundreds of memoirs and research articles on third-line construction.

In the past two years, I have found that many of the first generation of third-line builders I originally interviewed have passed away one after another, as a third-line disciple, I deeply feel the responsibility and obligation on my shoulders, if I do not collect and sort out the memories of these predecessors, I always feel sorry for the painstaking efforts paid by my fathers.

The workshop of that year slowly aged over the years

I remember one year, when I interviewed an old factory director of the 3541 factory in northwest Hubei, the old man tearfully told the past of the construction of the third line, talked about the moving place, and choked up several times. I can feel the hardships and reluctance of the old third-line people, when they came to the mountains, they were all young people in their teens and twenties, and now they are full of white hair and vicissitudes. Factories are built from nothing, built in their hands, and set on fire.

In the spring of 2015, I went to Xiangyang Junfang Road to interview the director of the 3545 factory. When he learned that I was writing for the third-line factory, he was very excited, took out the manuscript he had written many years ago and handed it to me, and then told me the story of him and his old factory.

Suchang's elder family, Hebei, once studied at Tianjin University, went to a military farm in Qingdao after graduation to exercise, and a year later was sent to the third line of northwest Hubei to build a factory. The 3545 factory was personally built brick by brick by their generation, and he stayed in the third-line factory all his life, and he had unrelenting feelings for the old factory in the mountains.

After experiencing the ebb and flow of the tide, a generation grows old and a generation grows. Maybe every third-line person has the same three-line complex as me - no matter how far I go, I will often think of the unforgettable years in the third-line factory, after all, there are too many memories left there, leaving generations of youth, generations of sweat and smiles.
