The Western Han Dynasty of the Heroic Dream of the Ages (Li Guang)

Li Guang, whose year of birth is unknown, died in 119 BC in the Chengji period of Longxi (present-day Qin'an County, Gansu Province). A famous general and national hero in the Western Han Dynasty, Li Guang's ancestor was Li Xin, a famous general of the Qin Dynasty, who was born into a family of generals. Emperor Wen of Han joined the army in the fourteenth year (165 BC) and died in the fourth year of the Reign of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty (119 BC). Li Guang fought with the Xiongnu for more than forty years in his lifetime, more than seventy battles, and the Xiongnu feared his bravery and called him "Flying General". Li Guang was superior in height, good at shooting with ape arms, cherished soldiers, and was deeply loved by soldiers. The story of Shooting Stone Tigers during Li Guangguan's Hunting Outside the Pass is well known, making Li Guang one of the synonyms of the sharpshooters of later generations

During the reign of Emperor Wen of Han

In 165 BC, the Xiongnu invaded Xiaoguan (陳關, southeast of present-day Guyuan, Ningxia), and Li Guang joined the army to fight against the Xiongnu, and because of his proficiency in riding and shooting, he beheaded many Xiongnu leaders and was appointed as Hanzhong Lang.

During the reign of Emperor Jing of Han

During the Rebellion of the Seven Kingdoms, Li Guang made military contributions to the zhou Yafu quelling the rebellion, and was later appointed as the Taishou of Shanggu to fight against the Xiongnu, and was subsequently dispatched to Shangjun Taishou.

During the reign of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty

In 129 BC, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty sent Li Guang, Gongsun Ao, Gongsun He, and Wei Qing to lead 40,000 troops to attack the invading Xiongnu army from the four aspects of Yanmen, Yunzhong, Dai County, and Shanggu. The outcome of this battle was very ironic: Wei Qing, a fledgling, low-born, and least famous, made a long-distance attack on the Xiongnu holy land of Longcheng, killed seven hundred enemies, and became famous in the first battle; Gongsun He, who was born in the family, did not meet the enemy after entering the enemy's territory and returned without success; Gongsun Ao, who was born in the Janissaries, encountered the enemy army, was defeated, and lost 7,000 people and withdrew; and Li Guang, who was the most famous and senior, lost the most miserably, destroyed the whole army and was captured, and later escaped by taking troops and horses. Li Guang and Gongsun Ao were interrogated by the court lieutenants because of their defeat in battle, and after being beheaded according to military law, after paying a ransom, they were deposed as Shuren.

Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty appointed Li Guang as the Taishou of Right Beiping Commandery, and the Xiongnu called him "Flying General", who for many years did not dare to invade the Western Han Dynasty.

In 119 BC, Emperor Wu of Han launched the Battle of Mobei, and Wei Qing and Huo Fuyi each led 50,000 cavalry from Dingxiang and Dai Commandery to attack the Xiongnu headquarters across the desert expedition, and Li Guang was assigned to follow Wei Qing on the expedition. Li Guang got lost in the desert, delaying the battle, causing the Xiongnu leader to break through and escape. After the war, Li Guang was questioned by Wei Qing for the crime of delaying the fighter plane, unwilling to be tried by military law, and committed suicide in anger at the age of more than sixty.

Later Tang Dynasty emperors Li Yuan and Li Shimin posthumously recognized Li Guang's ancestors.
