When it comes to Qi Baoligao, some people may feel a little strange, but when it comes to the horse head piano song "Ten Thousand Horses Galloping" composed by him, I am afraid that no one will not know. What is even more shocking is that more than four-fifths of the world's horse's head piano music today is written by him.

Qi Baoligao began to play the piano at the age of 6, and because he played the harp well, he joined the Inner Mongolia Experimental Theater Troupe at the age of 13. Qi Baoligao said that he liked the horse head piano, and he did nothing in his life, only this one thing.

In 1963, Chits Boligao's debut novel "Ordos Plateau" was born, which was also the first unison in the history of the horse's head piano. Shortly thereafter, he created the now-famous horse head piano song "Ten Thousand Horses Galloping". When Qi Baoligao was watching a horse race at the Naadam Conference and saw a horse fall to his death after the last step of the race, he was touched by this scene and burst into tears.

Qi Baoli thought highly, the horse's incomparable loyalty, desperately ran to the end for its own master, sacrificed his precious life. And man is sometimes inferior to a horse, often betraying his faith and master, but a horse is sometimes better than a man. At the same time, he also remembered the scene of Genghis Khan's courageous march, and he believed that Genghis Khan's descendants should never stop and march forward like their ancestors. "As a Mongolian, I must dedicate my life to my people, my motherland." Qi Baoligao said. To this end, he created "Ten Thousand Horses Galloping". At the beginning of writing, the local people always said: "Qi Baoligao's song is not good, our horsehead piano song must be lyrical and melodious, and his song is so impatient that it cannot be counted." And Qi Baoligao always said it didn't matter. Using his knowledge of the violin he had learned, he changed the score with a legato. On October 1, 1979, at the 56 national concerts of the 30th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Qi Baoligao won the second prize for composition and the first prize for performance for "Ten Thousand Horses Galloping".

Three reforms of the horse's head

From 1972 to 1982, Qi Baoligao, who regarded the horsehead as his life, made three transformations of the horsehead piano, making great contributions to the promotion and development of the horsehead piano.

On the basis of retaining the original characteristics of the horse-head piano, he changed the resonance box from animal skin mask to python skin, from python skin to sycamore wood panel and white pine wood panel, thus broadening the sound range, expanding the volume, and enhancing the expressiveness; he also added a variety of new techniques such as jumping bow, broken bow, shaking bow, and cutting bow to the playing method. He also combined violin and erhu playing to improve the playing technique of the horse's head.

Qi Baoli said frankly: "The horse head qin is an ancient instrument, and it was also a backward instrument in the past. At that time, the horse-head organs of each tribe were different, and the playing methods were different, and they could not play the songs of other nationalities, let alone foreign songs. Now that the instruments and playing methods have been reformed, the scope of application of the horsehead piano has increased, and as long as there is a score, any piece can be played. ”

In the process of reforming the horse-head piano, Qi Baoligao was not without resistance. There were always people who scolded him for changing the horse's head to a donkey's head, and the sound of the horse's head he changed was the voice of the cow, ghost, and snake god. In this regard, Qi Baoligao sighed: "The modern people who listen to the horsehead qin have long been very different from the ancestors of the Genghis Khan era, and with the progress of society, the reform of the horsehead qin is forced to go to Liangshan, and if it is not reformed, it will definitely be abandoned." ”

The world's first horse-headed piano orchestra

When Chitsbal Bolig was 43 years old, his wife said to him, "Old man, you play solo every day like this, people are annoyed, I see you set up a horsehead piano band." He responded: "What band is being built, I have never heard of two horse-headed harps playing together." The wife laughed and said, "You also bragged that you are a descendant of Genghis Khan, and you can't even unify the horse-head organ, so you are a Mongolian." Qi Baoligao blushed after listening to it and said, "Right, right, you are so right." ”

So, Qi Baoligao told the regimental commander his thoughts, and the regimental commander said, "Baoligao, I don't have much money." Well, you call a student in each league yourself, and I'll give you three cents for dinner every night. In this way, the Chi Baoligao Mustang Horse Head Piano Orchestra was born. Later, after 4 months of rehearsal, they produced 4 songs: "Ten Thousand Horses Galloping", "Grassland Connected to Beijing", "Retrospective Song" and "Rising Sun".

In 1989, Qi Baoligao ran to Beijing to stamp 32 chapters and established the China Horsehead Qin Association. At that time, the chairman of the autonomous region had given him thirty thousand yuan and there were still ten thousand yuan left, so he invited 27 brothers of the orchestra to a railway station guest house in Bayinhari, Xisu Banner, and unified the method of playing the horse-head piano in an environment without electric lights, telephones and televisions. Later, the Chinese Musicians Association asked the orchestra to report to Beijing for performances, and their performances were warmly welcomed. Then he went to the Central Conservatory of Music and the Nationalities College to perform and hold a symposium.

It was also at this time that Qi Baoligao received a call from director Lang Kun of CCTV: "Qi Baoligao, in the 1991 CCTV Spring Festival Gala, we will use you as a 'wild horse'. "After the Spring Festival Gala, the orchestra that should have been popular encountered economic problems, not only the rehearsal room was gone, but also owed a lot of money, and the orchestra was facing dissolution. So, the Aegean Qi Baoligao made a difficult decision to perform in Japan to earn money, and then sent the money to the brothers. He left only one sentence: Don't disband, you must perform.

Over the years, Qi Baoligao has single-handedly cultivated many matou qin artistic talents, and his disciples are all over the world, who have made outstanding contributions to the development of matou qin art. As the world's master of the mafia, Chitsbal Bolegot has given hundreds of concerts at home and abroad, and he is the only Chinese player to enter the world's musical capital, the Golden Hall of Vienna, to hold a special masthead concert.

If you count from the age of 6, it has been more than sixty years since Qi Baoligo played the horse's head violin, which is a deep love, a valuable persistence, and a great inheritance. He said, "In my whole life, I've done this."
