Born in the beautiful Horqin steppe, Qi Baoligao began playing the piano at the age of 6. In that era when there was no television, the gifted Qi Baoligao watched the performances of folk artists and was able to perform them to his mother as they were, including the horse-head harp and the four hu. His mother saw where his interest was and encouraged him to engage in this industry, and since then, the dream of ma touqin has quietly sprouted in his heart.

In 1958, Qi Baoligao graduated from primary school, and the Inner Mongolia Cultural and Labor Troupe recruited people to the school, and he took the exam and successfully passed. This sentence became the initial fate of Qi Baoligao and Ma Tauqin, and it was also the motivation to persevere.
