Music is with me

Kitaro, whose original name was Masanori Takahashi, was born in 1953 to a peasant family in Toyohashi, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. In 1978, Kitaro started as an independent musician and released his debut album "Celestial Realm", which opened the prelude to the "New Age" in the East. Kitaro's song "Silk Road", composed by Kitaro for NHK's documentary, made him famous in one fell swoop. At that time, Kitaro was only 27 years old, had never been to China, nor had he walked on this thousand-year-old road, but only created a Silk Road music full of Chinese charm by virtue of his indirect understanding of Chinese music and the musician's special perception of history.

"The Silk Road is indeed the highlight of my life," Kitaro said, "because we can't appreciate how many difficulties the ancients experienced when they created such a great Silk Road." When we see it in various documentaries and movies, it brings us a huge shock, like opening up another mysterious world. There are some young people who may not know much about the earlier technology and culture, but in fact, some culture should be passed down from generation to generation, which is the meaning of what we are doing now. ”

Listen attentively to the sound of music

Since "Silk Road", Kitaro has traveled between pure art music and pop music, and has also gained global attention, winning many landmark music awards such as Grammys and Golden Globe Awards, not only winning the Grammy Award for Best New Century Album for "Thinking of You", but also receiving 16 Grammy nominations. No Asian musician has achieved such results.

Today, Kitaro, who is over the age of hana, has turned his vision of exploring nature to a wider world. He had a close friend, Kazunari Shibata, an astronomy professor at Kyoto University, whose research interests were solar flares. After listening to Kitaro's Grammy-nominated music "Ancient Chronicles" album, Professor Shibata seemed to have gained a synaesthesia, feeling that the music in it resembled a picture of sun flares and planets moving.

Music gives me more imagination

The "Ancient Chronicles and the Universe" concert is divided into two chapters, the first half of which is based on the legend "Ancient Chronicles" and the second half is based on the extraordinary and wonderful changes in the "Universe". Because the theme is related to the universe, the concert will add a lot of visual factors, and will also feature time-lapse images, interwoven with real-time film majors offered by Kazunari Shibata, a professor of astronomy at Kyoto University, NASA, and the Hubble Space Telescope.

"I think my music can also contain a broader imagination, and music and pictures can also play an educational role." Kitaro said he hopes that more young people and children will come to see this imaginative performance, with the help of music, and look forward to the future of mankind.
