On the occasion of the National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Day, on May 11, the New Era Civilization Practice Sub-center of Sheshan Town, the Town Student Community Practice Guidance Station, and the Shanghai Earthquake Science Museum, a member of the "Shanpu Huizhi" Science Popularization Alliance, launched the "Earthquake Science Popularization Hand in Hand" science popularization theme activity for minors in the jurisdiction, so as to enhance the awareness and ability of minors in disaster risk prevention.
During the event, the professional instructor of the Shanghai Earthquake Science Museum showed the harm caused by the earthquake by playing the movie clip "Tangshan Earthquake". Subsequently, the science teacher also explained the causes, signs, and effects of earthquakes, and the easy-to-understand language allowed the children to quickly understand and master the relevant knowledge. "Through learning, I learned not to panic when an earthquake comes, and to take correct emergency and avoidance actions in a timely manner according to the environment, and quickly make decisions to ensure safety." One student said.
"Earthquakes happen almost every day, but some of them are so small that people don't feel them, and they can only be detected by instruments." Under the guidance of the teacher, the children assembled a simple earthquake alarm. During the production process, the children either asked the teacher questions or discussed with their friends, and after a while, the small and exquisite earthquake alarms were completed. When the desktop shook and the alarm successfully made a "tick" sound, the earthquake safety knowledge was also imprinted in the hearts of the children.
"Through this activity, we have further popularized the knowledge of earthquake science, improved the children's awareness of earthquake prevention and disaster reduction and emergency avoidance ability, and also hoped to drive more people to understand relevant knowledge by 'educating a student and influencing a family'." The person in charge of the activity said that in the future, Sheshan Town will continue to deepen the construction of the "Shanpu Huizhi" science popularization alliance, bring more and more exciting science popularization activities to the public, and effectively let more high-quality science popularization projects take root and blossom in Sheshan.
