In the first quarter of 2024, the list of the world's best-selling mobile phones was announced, and no domestic brand was on the list

In recent years, all domestic mainstream mobile phone brands have been committed to "impacting the high-end". Almost every brand that releases a high-end smartphone will stage various dramas such as "X minutes to sell XX units", "X minutes to sell out", "X minutes to exceed XX yuan in sales" and so on.

In addition, the majority of digital enthusiasts may have seen such a news recently: in recent quarters, Apple's smartphone sales in the Chinese market have been weak and declining severely, and it seems that it has begun to decline, and the outlook is very bleak.

Judging from the above information, it seems that the "impact of domestic mobile phones" on the high-end has really "become", and many digital enthusiasts may have such an opinion. So, from a global market perspective, is this really the case? Is there a relative, authoritative and objective global single-product smartphone sales share ranking for reference?

On May 6, Counterpoint Research, a well-known third-party market research agency, announced the list of the world's best-selling smartphones in the first quarter of 2024 (see Figure 2), which indirectly gave the answer to this question.

The full list of the top 10 is as follows:

1、iPhone 15 Pro Max，份额为4.4%；

2. iPhone 15, with a share of;

3、iPhone 15 Pro，份额为4.3%；

4. iPhone 14, with a share of 3.7%;

5、Galaxy S24 Ultra，份额为1.9%；

6. Galaxy A15 5G, with a share of 1.5%;

7. Galaxy A54, with a share of 1.4%;

8、iPhone 15 Plus,份额为1.3%.;

9、Galaxy S24，份额为1.0%.；

10. Galaxy A34, with a share of 1.0%.

- Yes, you read that right, there are no domestic brand models on this list, none of the domestic brands are on the list, it is very embarrassing, the top five are Apple, and the bottom five are Samsung.

In addition, don't think that this is just an accidental situation, according to the list of the first quarter of 2023 previously released by Counterpoint Research, the overall situation is basically the same, the top ten are all Apple and Samsung, and all domestic brands are on the list, see Figure 2.

By comparing the two lists, although Apple's iPhone 15 is widely considered to be ininnovative, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is still the most popular high-end smartphone in the market.

In addition, Samsung, which has almost no popularity and presence in the domestic market, is still alive and well in the global market. Its Galaxy S24 Ultra has a share of 1.9%, nearly 43% of Apple's iPhone 15 Pro Max, and its No.1 position in the global Android smartphone camp is still solid and unshakable.

The reasons for "no domestic brand models on the list" are very complex, objectively speaking, part of the reason is from non-technical factors of political barriers, if Huawei smartphones can compete fairly in the global market, then there is a high probability that there will be a place on this list.

On the other hand, it is undeniable that political barriers are not the only reason for "no domestic brand models on the list", and there is still a big gap between domestic high-end smartphones and Apple and Samsung in terms of research and development, experience and marketing, which must be admitted.

In general, domestic mobile phones have indeed made some progress in "impacting the high-end", but there is still a certain distance from "standing firm in the high-end", and the process may be very long and difficult. Therefore, whether it is a domestic mobile phone manufacturer or a majority of digital hardware enthusiasts, they must not be blindly optimistic now, and must work steadily and step by step.
