On the morning of October 23, the launching ceremony of cmHI-196-5 polar exploration cruise ship "Ocean Odyssey" was held at the Haimen Base of China Merchants Industry. Leaders of China Merchants Industry Haimen Base, representatives of Sunstone shipowners, representatives of BV Classification Society and members of the project team all attended the ceremony.

The Polar Expedition Cruises Vessel No. 5 "Ocean Odyssey", which started construction on September 24, 2020 and was laid on March 5, 2021, is the fifth Polar Exploration Cruise ship undertaken by China Merchants Industrial Haimen Base, equipped with a Tier III engine with a selective catalytic reduction system to reduce emissions; operated using low-sulfur marine light oil (MGO) with waste heat recovery system and LED lights. In addition, a wastewater treatment and management system has been installed on board to clean the wastewater before it is discharged. Meets the requirements of the Ship Ice Class 1A, POLAR CLASS 6 Ice Class Symbol and POLAR CAT-B Polar Service Area.
It is reported that the Polar Exploration Cruise Project has delivered the No. 1 ship "Gomo", the No. 4 ship "Ocean Adventure" and the No. 3 ship "Ocean Victory", which has been unanimously praised by the industry.
