The plan was leaked, and Li Xiaowen was arrested. Facing Li Xiaowen, Liu Wencai sneered: "Do you think a knife can change your fate?"
This iron-clad hand made Liu Wencai a terrifying symbol, but his tyranny eventually led to retribution. In 1931, because of the power struggle with his brother Liu Wenhui, Liu Wencai's power began to decline. His opponents took advantage of the flaws left by his rapid expansion, and united forces to gradually weaken his control.
In 1949, with the founding of New China, the curtain of Liu Wencai's old era finally fell. His former mansion and estate were confiscated by the new government and converted into public facilities, and Liu Wencai himself died of illness soon after, ending his turbulent life.
