Chasing the wind and catching the moon do not stay, and the end of the flat is the spring mountain. On the eve of this year's May Day and May Fourth Youth Day, Dahe Daily Yu Video launched a special plan of "New Youth, New Career" to present you with a group of dream-chasing young people in the new era.

Core Tips

"Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) inspection is equivalent to opening a pair of 'eyes in the sky', and the perspective of aerial inspection and manual ground inspection is completely different, which can greatly improve the quality and efficiency of inspection. Zheng Jinyu, a drone pilot in the substation after 95, told the Dahe Daily Yu video reporter that the inspection of the ± 800KV UHV Zhongzhou converter station as an example, the daily manual ground inspection requires a team of 5 people to patrol the entire station area, and the drone equipped with high-definition dual cameras can complete all the tasks in 40 minutes, "UAV inspection can not only avoid false detection and missed detection with high precision and multiple perspectives, but also ensure the safety of power equipment and personnel." ”

The light and flexible multi-rotor UAV "Xiao Q" is Zheng Jinyu's work partner.

"Although we have been working together for less than one year, we are comrades-in-arms who have gone through ups and downs and overcome difficulties together!" Zheng Jinyu said.

Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology empowers substation inspection, bringing a "qualitative leap"

"Backwards, a little more retreat, steady!" "Please synchronize the flight data!" "31 meters above the ground, about 8 meters from the 500 kV equipment area"...... Recently, in the ± 800KV UHV Zhongzhou converter station in Henan Province, drone pilot Zheng Jinyu and his colleague Li Zhiheng are carrying out inspection work in the live equipment area.

The Dahe Daily Yu video reporter noticed that Zheng Jinyu was wearing a hard hat, overalls, and insulated shoes, staring at the display screen on the remote control, and the screen displayed the picture transmission screen during the inspection in real time. Zheng Jinyu adjusted the joystick from time to time, showing a calm and sophisticated attitude that did not match his age, and exuded an atmosphere of professionalism and rigor.

The drone "Little Q" flew too high, looking up, like a bird thrown into the sky. With Zheng Jinyu's operation, "Little Q" seems to be endowed with a soul, sometimes moving steadily to reach a position that is difficult to reach artificially, and sometimes hovering in the air to scan and examine key areas in an all-round way. The high-definition camera is like a pair of sharp eagle eyes, taking in every detail of the device.

"The gantry is inspected, no problem. ± insulator strings at the junction of the 800 kV and 500 kV equipment areas are also no problem. The drone's battery level is 23% left, and the flight time is about 5 minutes. "Okay, you operate, I'll keep an eye on the real-time location of the plane. Li Zhiheng responded, "It is estimated that no 3 batteries will be used today, and the whole station will be able to complete the patrol." ”

Traditional manual inspection methods have blind spots, making it difficult to achieve comprehensive coverage. According to the reporter's understanding, there are nearly 50 staff members in Zhongzhou converter station every day, and there are currently 4 people who are substation drone pilots, who can perform daily and special inspections.

The voltage level of Zhongzhou converter station is high, the electrical equipment in the station is high, the volume is large, the arrangement is close, the components are complex and the equipment is in a live operation state, the pilot must not only resist strong electromagnetic interference, always pay attention to the safety distance, accurately control the flight trajectory and action of the drone, but also keep an eye on the image acquisition screen to observe the equipment situation. Therefore, every air inspection is a great test of the pilot's skills and psychological quality.

After extreme weather, enable drone inspection instead of "foot measurement"

"With the continuous expansion of the application range of drones, it provides a solution for many industries to solve traditional problems. Nowadays, drones play the role of 'eye in the sky' in many fields, but the use of drones to carry out inspection work in substations has only been realized in recent years. Zheng Jinyu told reporters.

After graduating from university in 2021, he chose to enter the power industry with both challenges and opportunities, and his daily work is mainly responsible for the operation and maintenance of converter stations, and his thoughts all day long are about this UHV converter station that transmits nearly 130 million kWh of electricity per day - ±800KV UHV Zhongzhou converter station.

"Personally, I am obsessed with artificial intelligence technology, and I want to become a 'technology stream' as soon as possible from the day I go to work, so that I can do something to make the operation and maintenance of the power grid more 'smart' and efficient. With the help of 'Little Q', my dream quickly became a reality. Zheng Jinyu said.

Severe convective weather is one of the most stressful moments for power people. A special inspection experience made Zheng Jinyu remember it vividly.

One day in October 2023, Zhengzhou was hit by extremely strong convective weather, and the temperature plummeted by nearly 15 degrees Celsius overnight. Early the next morning, looking at the leaves swept away by the wind in the station, Zheng Jinyu couldn't help but worry about the equipment in the station. It just so happened that the reminder of the predecessors sounded in my ears: "When the temperature changes sharply, the expansion joint of the GIS tubular bus is very prone to stress changes, so we should quickly check the scale of the expansion joint to see if there is any exceedance." ”

Zheng Jinyu understands that this sudden abnormal weather has brought a lot of tests to the equipment in the station, especially those GIS tubular buses, which undertake the important task of power transmission, and once there is a problem, the consequences are unimaginable.

Ensure energy security and keep the lights on thousands of homes. A lamp, a beam of light, pinning people's hopes and thoughts.

The operation and maintenance team quickly organized personnel and planned to conduct a comprehensive inspection of all tubular bus expansion joints.

This is a laborious and delicate task. In the past, such inspections required the cooperation of multiple people, holding heavy cameras, to record the 345 expansion joints of the station one by one. Not only is it inefficient, but due to angle and light issues, it is often difficult to clearly reflect the real situation of the expansion joint. At this time, drone pilot Zheng Jinyu decided to try a new method - using drones to shoot in the air and carry out detailed inspections.

Overtaking in corners, new technology makes the inspection work more accurate and "more hardcore"

It's time to hit the tide and show off your skills!

In order to ensure that the drone is foolproof, Zheng Jinyu has carried out a detailed inspection and debugging of the drone in advance to ensure that it can work stably in complex weather conditions. Then, carefully and cautiously, the drone slowly lifted off into the air, approaching those tubular bus expansion joints.

Although he has nearly 100 hours of flying experience, this flight still makes Zheng Jinyu highly nervous. If you want to take accurate scale photos, you need the drone to be closer to the equipment, and closer, but although the scene is sunny after extreme weather, the wind is not small, and the flight attitude of the drone is more difficult to control, and it takes 200% concentration to ensure safe flight in a high-density equipment environment, and at the same time, it is necessary to complete the accurate identification of abnormal situations......

Stabilize the panic and nervousness in your heart, the drone shuttles flexibly in the air, and under the lens, every detail of the expansion joint is clearly visible. Zheng Jinyu kept dialing the joystick and slowly adjusted the position and angle of the drone to ensure that every important image could be captured. At the same time, the drone's high-definition camera also recorded every subtle change in the expansion joint.

After 2 hours of hard work, he finally successfully completed the inspection of all tubular bus expansion joints.

When the drone landed safely, Zheng Jinyu felt that the boulder hanging in his heart also fell to the ground. Although my hands were a little stiff and my palms were sweaty after holding the remote control for a long time, the ease and sense of accomplishment of completing the flight mission quickly swept away the fatigue on my body.

"It's a wonderful feeling, it's like accidentally triggering a hidden copy of a game with a big boss in it, and it's up to me to catch it. Zheng Jinyu said, "It's gratifying, I have cleared the customs!"

This drone inspection experience made Zheng Jinyu realize the advantages of drone inspection. Not only does it save the trouble of manual inspection, the inspection efficiency is greatly improved, but more importantly, the photos taken by the drone have high definition, which can accurately reflect the real situation of the expansion joint, and provide an accurate basis for the subsequent change comparison work.

Determined to master a skill, closed study for 1 month to successfully obtain the certificate

"Why did you choose to become a substation drone pilot?" the reporter asked. Zheng Jinyu thought for a while, and replied with a shy smile: "Because of the sense of crisis, at first I just wanted to master a skill that is useful for my career. ”

Knowledge blind spots, ability shortcomings, and experience blind spots...... It turned out that when he first entered the workplace, Zheng Jinyu had frequent setbacks, and he realized that now is the era of "academic inflation", there will be more and more people with high education, and the academic qualifications as "stepping stones" will be more and more depreciated, "It's not that you can get a double certificate of academic degree after graduation, and you can find a good job once and for all, with digital transformation and technological innovation, all walks of life are seeking sustainable development." Only by maintaining lifelong learning and actively adapting to various changes can you gain a firm foothold in the professional field. ”

Fortunately, after joining the company, the unit not only provides a platform and opportunity for learning, but also is willing to train young people. People who are willing to put in and put their hearts into it will always find a place to show their strengths.

In May 2023, the unit organized the study of drone technology and called on employees to voluntarily sign up to participate, Zheng Jinyu signed up without hesitation, "You have to seize this good opportunity to grow your skills!" Zheng Jinyu said that as soon as he heard that he was going to study in a closed area for 1 month, many people who originally wanted to sign up quit.

After one month of closed study, Zheng Jinyu successfully obtained a civilian drone pilot license in July 2023 and became one of the company's first batch of "only" qualified drone operators. In order to apply this new skill in the industry as soon as possible, after three months of study and practice, he not only mastered the essence of drone inspection, but even began to carry out substation special inspection tasks.

Zheng Jinyu noted that with the rapid development of the economy and the continuous change of climate, the characteristics of the "winter and summer" double peak of power load are becoming more and more obvious, and the proportion of summer cooling and winter heating load is increasing, ensuring the safe and stable supply of electricity during the "winter and summer" double peak period, which has become an important part of stabilizing the economy and ensuring people's livelihood. In the power industry, the work that originally needed to fight on the front line under the scorching sun and cold wave was replaced by drones, remote monitoring, AI and other technical means.

"The preference for digital skills has become a defining feature of the new career era. Zheng Jinyu said that more and more jobs in the power industry are full of "sense of science and technology", and also derived a lot of "high" new occupations, "I believe that more and more young people will devote themselves to new careers, injecting surging power into social progress!"
